Outfitting a Mars Habitat: A 3D Print Challenge

High-Level Project Summary

We focused on the design of materials, equipment and instruments that could be manufactured by 3D printers with different materials for the survival of an astronaut on the surface of the planet Mars for a whole year.The challenges posed are solved because our designs fit the constraints and stay within the parameters in which the astronaut will find himself.It is very important because it raises real situations and problems that our future astronauts might encounter when exploring this inhospitable planet for the first time.

Detailed Project Description

Project focused on the design of elements for the resolution of the challenges involved in wanting to live a year on the surface of the planet Mars.

The designs were made with three-dimensional and two-dimensional design software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD, as main benefit we have that all designs of parts and processes were developed specifically to be viable in the conditions of the planet Mars and with the materials that can be obtained there.

Our main goal is that any of this idea is the ideal option for the resolution of any of these problems because that will imply that the effort invested and the knowledge acquired were fruitful.

Hackathon Journey

it was one of the most rewarding experiences I have had so far because it gave me the opportunity to give free rein to my imagination and put me in a constant challenge that led to a great evolution in many of my skills and the reason why I chose this challenge was because I could put into practice already acquired skills and in turn, in addition to practicing them, I would have the opportunity to have some new ones.
