Red Planet Space Sleep capsule

High-Level Project Summary

Currently, a space capsule is being developed to provide astronauts with safety and comfort so they can sleep better and avoid drifting and crashing into other precision equipment on board the capsule. And this solves the challenge of the astronaut sleeping problem. challenge of astronaut sleeping problem. And it also solves the problem of astronaut health problem, our space sleeping capsule is important mostly because Unprotected prolonged exposure to solar particles can damage the central nervous system, skin and body organs, and increase the risk of cancer. Sleeping capsules the space available to astronauts and reduce the scope for constructing a biologically viable environment.

Detailed Project Description

Sketch Up is 3D modeling program

  • The user uses a 2-dimensional screen and mouse to draw 3-dimensional parts.
  • Can be compared to a video camera and the movement of the sun.
  • Easy to operate to make the model.
  • Created models can be uploaded using a Google account.

Description

NASA's Orion spacecraft is built to take humans farther than they've ever gone before. Orion will serve as the exploration vehicle that will carry the crew to space, provide emergency abort capability, sustain the crew during the space travel, and provide safe re-entry from deep space return velocities. Orion will launch on NASA's new heavy-lift rocket, the Space launch system.

When designing a space capsule that is both safe, lightweight and actually possible for us to build, it is important to break the capsule down in sub-systems. This makes it possible to maintain the overall picture of what needs to be designed and in what order, and what influence the different systems have on each other.

The first capsule we build will be a so-called boilerplate model of the pressure hull made in steel. The advantage of using steel is that it’s fairly cheap and easy to work with. Because we’re using steel for the boilerplate capsule it will outweigh the final capsule by quite a lot. Where the final capsule has a mass budget of 300-350kg (including astronaut), there’re no restrictions on the weight of the boilerplate capsule. Its primary purpose is to achieve a sensible and practical spacecraft layout.

Hackathon Journey

YEH CHING WEN

It is my first time participating in the Hackathon Space Apps activity. I feel it is interesting and challenging. Designing Sleep Capsule was a groundbreaking challenge for me, and I learned new techniques from Sketchup. From the very beginning, when I talked to my teammates for design inspiration and participated in the production process, I felt that this competition was very challenging, and it was a sense of accomplishment to complete this team's work with my teammates. Thanks to my teammates for their hard work in this competition, and to the instructors for letting us know that the Space Apps event gave us a special opportunity to participate in this competition.

Susan chou

It was a very difficult challenge and the process of doing this challenge was very difficult I wanted to give up at one point but I think that when the challenge is almost over I want to do my best and show Nasa that we have worked hard to learn from this challenge not only from the production process but also from the end and I can apply this experience to future university reports.
