OUTFITTING A MARS HABITAT: A 3D PRINT

High-Level Project Summary

Due to the human instinctive desire to survive and in the case of our astronaut and the hypothetical of this challenge, we have used experiments similar to reality, where the surface of Mars is similar to some areas on Earth, where they are similar in their dryness, ruggedness and lack of life, such as the frozen poles and deserts, and we searched for the most important thing that helps to survive other than food and drink, which is the presence of a multiple-sized and multiple-sized tool to help to perform many functions and similar in composition to Swiss serenity and when built We can replace the wheel of the damaged vehicle and also build multi-use furniture that we use in sleep, sit on.

Detailed Project Description

In this challenge, we have provided the essential basics to be able to live on Mars for a year to prepare the place for the next missions to the Red Planet.

Where we carried out three main and basic tasks, which is our project, and we were inspired by the subject of multi-purpose in mind to reduce the consumption of materials, and we combined the use of more than one material

We swapped out the wheel damaged by the hard landing and used Solidworks to design the wheel to fit the rest of the previous NASA craft on Mars.

We used real and identical dimensions to the original, as well as simulating the process of printing with a 3D printer using Slicer due to the lack of availability in the event.

We also suggest, in the future, the existence of a 3D printer that can use titanium and aluminum for printing to help print and replace damaged parts on exploration rovers on Mars.

We also provided a multi-tool to damage all the tools and we will use it to change the wheel or repair any other important damaged devices that may be essential to life on the surface of the planet, so we were inspired by many designs for that and we found many and chose one of them due to its ease of carrying and ease of printing as well and we added a revolutionary feature It is innovative and does not exist in reality before, and it is a clilometer, where we designed the electrical circuit for it and its main function is to explore the separation or interruption of wires internally without cutting the wire. Alive like a pressure adjuster in the room and also contains the main tools for repairing all the equipment on the house.

We also made multiple furniture using the multi-tool, where we designed a unique model with an innovative idea, which is multiple furniture, where you can eat, sleep and sit, a truly unique idea that saves materials. Smaller, with outlets to assemble it easily and safely, and similar in its formation to a puzzle or a beehive in its bricks, and also we used the principle of multiplicity of materials in it.

Space Agency Data

We used the data available to us to reach the dimensions of the wheel of the spacecraft and obtain information about the materials used to manufacture it in order to withstand the harsh conditions of Mars. Also, the Internet was provided through which we reached many designs that we can use in designing the multi-tool. We also used the Tinkercad website to draw the electrical circuit.

Hackathon Journey

We learned a lot in this Hackathon, as we were able to gain many experiences and skills, especially by choosing this unique challenge.

Through this trip, we learned more about the U.S. space agency and what it is doing for the development of the world and the dominance of the human race in space, by sending missions and trips for many purposes outside the planet, most notably the rise of the first human on the surface of the moon. It did not stop, so humans decided to launch a race to prepare for its new destination, which is the unique twin planet of our beloved planet, the red planet or Mars.

From that, we could experience the feeling of the astronauts as we flew with them through our minds and imagination in solving this set of challenges.

Of course, this was not done without the help of scientists, experts, and specialists who stayed with us on our unique journey and learned a lot from them, in addition to getting to know many creative colleagues from whom we were inspired by a lot and a lot of inspiration to reach solutions to challenges.

Also, we learned a lot of skills during these two days, from organizing time, learning discipline and self-reliance as well, in addition to teamwork and cooperation with colleagues.

Therefore, it is a very new and rich experience, and we have benefited a lot from it, and we certainly would like to repeat it in the near future.
