Habiting Mars Optimizing Spaces

High-Level Project Summary

Human race is not capable of transport enough material yet, thus we have to find the way for having sustainable life in long term missions. As a team we worked on multifunctional furniture and tools for making easier life on other planet, in this case Mars. Taking all the conditions and specifications we design the most optimizing furniture that can be a lot of things at the same time.

Detailed Project Description

Use geological resources and atmosphere on Mars for designing multitask furniture and tools and that make life easier on other planets, in addition to a spare moving wheel for curiosity rover.

We are supposed to have 3 printers, one that can make small metal pieces, a second which makes medium and plastic things and the last one that makes very large concrete items. As we have a maximum size it is important to focus on furniture that can fit together and become other things.

3D printing is one of the best tools we can take advantage of. It is supposed to satisfy our basic necessities as tools, furniture and especially spare parts for rover curiosity or rover perseverance which will help us for the space exploration.

Preserve humanity is a concern for everybody, specially for future generations because of the increasing posibilities to live in other planet. As a result, we have design a model of basic needed things that will be useful for sustainable life.

Thinking long term, this project are going to mean a useful tool for young people to understand the basic considerations of creating an adequate enviroment for living.

Space Agency Data

We consider an article maked by Nasa partners specifing the essentials conditions of a crew member room. This is the following: "Deep Space Habitability: Design guidelines based on the NASA NextStep Phase 2 Ground test program" . The principal information we take advantage of was the requirements of cleaning and optimize spaces.

Hackathon Journey

We have the opportunity to share knowledge with people who have different abilities and skills.

inspiration for chosing this challenge was based on the diversity of areas we known as a team, furthermore the necessity of human race of surviving this terrible climate crisis we are living.

Networking, organizing time and working under pressure are some of the soft skills we have learned.

We are pleasure to thank the organize team who make all of this real,
