Outfitting a Mars Habitat: A 3D Print Challenge

High-Level Project Summary

We developed some tools and building like greenhouses, shovel, wrench, wheel, ice chisel. Those will help me to solve our challenge. We will use greenhouses to grow crops to feed the people on Mars. We also make the rover usable by making various tools and wheel. We are going to drive the rover to the polar climate of Mars. Then use the ice-chisel to collect water ice. The problem of water and food for people on Mars can be solved by these methods. So, its are very essential.

Detailed Project Description

First of all, we are most proud of the greenhouse, which has two walls for insulation and a vacuum layer in the middle to produce insulation. But due to the limited size of the building, we had to build three identical greenhouses to maintain the supply of food and oxygen. Small shovel, we can use it for planting such as digging soil, get loose soil or other. Ice chisel, we will rely on it as a tool to get water ice to solve the water problem. Large gear, which we use as a filler for damaged tires and also for optimization. The wrench, which we use as a tool to mount tires to the space vehicle. Most of their advantages are that they can be disassembled and assembled. If they are suddenly damaged, therefore only the damaged part needs to be repaired without wasting the whole. They are our pride and joy. We hope they will help us with our year-long survival mission. We used the online 3D modeling tool - tinkercad (https://www.tinkercad.com/dashboard) to build & design our tools.

We learned about the topography, climate, and environment of Mars. We decided to choose this topic because our team is very interested in Mars.We express our ideas through our 3D modeling website. When we encounter difficulties, we always encourage each other and never give up.
