High-Level Project Summary
The project is based on the assumption of an astronaut starting a small Martian colony. It only has three 3D printers, which can print different materials such as polymers, metals and concrete, each in a limited way and with size restrictions due to the printing capacity and size of the 3D printers. So, as a solution to these inconveniences, the Mach 7 team took the initiative to build objects in a modular way with the intention of being able to build larger equipment than those that could be allowed by the size limitations of 3D printers.

Detailed Project Description
The project is based on the assumption of an astronaut starting a small Martian colony. It only has three 3D printers, which can print different materials such as polymers, metals and concrete, each in a limited way and with size restrictions due to the printing capacity and size of the 3D printers. So, as a solution to these inconveniences, the Mach 7 team took the initiative to build objects in a modular way with the intention of being able to build larger equipment than those that could be allowed by the size limitations of 3D printers.
During the project, design issues focused mainly on the joints of the modules were addressed. Likewise, an analysis of the viability of the materials with which they could be built from tools for the manufacture of furniture to structural elements for the repair of transport equipment was carried out.
During this process, CAD and CAM software such as Solidworks and Cura were used for the design and simulation of various elements.

Space Agency Data
The team used information from some international space agencies in order to have a broader context and thus more ideas for the development of materials, parts and structural elements. The various space agencies helped the team analyze past models and see what the areas of opportunity had been in their structures. Also, many of them provide new technologies and innovative models, which served us as a reference to build our models.
Hackathon Journey
Daniel: It is the first time that I have participated in this competition and I quite liked the work that I was able to do with my team and the organization that we had to carry out the project and solve the problem, even though it was complex and we had little time, we were quite proactive and I was amazed at the work we managed to do.
I consider that planning was something quite important to be able to do the necessary work and not waste time on activities that were not going to contribute or that we would have to change in the future, finally communication in the team was essential to be able to see the problem from different perspectives and to be able to solve it in the best possible way.
Mauricio: This was my second experience in a space apps challenge, with the difference that this time it was 100% face-to-face. I was able to verify that teamwork with my colleagues was more fluid since the communication was more direct and we had enough space to be able to share our ideas and complement each other with the knowledge of each one. It was a good experience and I liked meeting people with whom I could discuss my ideas and complement them as a team. Likewise, it was interesting to have professors and assistants who could help us to optimize the times, processes and doubts that arose during the development of the project.
Santiago: This is the first time I have ever joined a Hackaton event and was enthusiastic to participate in such an event, given it is useful for my formal preparation, as it creates real-world experience with collaboration and management within a team to solve a problem. I overall enjoyed it but I felt my challenge was a bit too vague in this case, I would have appreciated a more formal document with the outlines and specifics.
Aldo: During this hackathon I had a great time working on a space related topic. Me and my teammates were able to face a real challenge that made us collaborate to develop the necessary elements for a Martian habitat. After this experience I not only developed my design skills but also improved my capabilities for working on a team.
Sergio: It was the first time i participate in a project like this and it was quite awesome to work as a team like that. We divided the workload according to our strengths and weaknesses and divided the group in order to reach the goal as fast and easy as possible. It was a one of a kind experience that helped me learn what i do best and who do i work with the best. If there is one thing i would ve changed is the organization of the challenge.
Victor: This is my first time in this kind of events, as a future engineer it is really interesting to be able to develop my skills and meet more people, being one of my best experiences in my career so far.
The idea of designing a camp for explorers on another planet is simply amazing, no one can know what the future holds, and as a student, it is intriguingThe idea of designing a camp for explorers on another planet, is simply amazing, no one can know what the future holds, and as a student, it is intriguing to think that it will be the new creation of brilliant minds and how I can put myself in the field with them and fight face to face, reaching places I had never thought and performing activities that only appear in movies.
