Outfitting a Mars Habitat: A 3D Print Challenge

High-Level Project Summary

We have developed tools to live on mars for one whole year and it was an amazing experience to design the tools. It gave us the opportunity to express our creativity and develop tools that will help us survive. Basic things to survive are- food , water, oxygen and shelter. We have created tools based on these necessities to live on mars. This is also important as it gives us an idea on how to survive in real life.

Detailed Project Description

Water- A special tool made of pure silver to get water in space without needing to carry a 1000 bottles of water to space.

Food- Flameless heater and crumbles food.

Oxygen- Liquid oxygen lasts for 8-10 days and that's good as then we don't need to carry many oxygen tanks to space.

Shelter- It has all the basic things for a person to survive in. It is just like a home, but in space where everything floats.

We hope that these ideas could actually be used by astronauts in space.

Space Agency Data

We have followed some of the data from Nasa to come up with these tools we that created to live on mars for a year. We also took some help from google to know more about the special filtration system created by Nasa. We also used our daily life references to come up with these cool tools.

Hackathon Journey

We would describe our Space Apps Experience as a complicated one for our little brains. But we were able to do our best. We learned a lot from this experience as we did a lot of research work. My team was inspired by the lecture that was given in our school. We were so excited to do research about living on mars on the internet. Our team had a lot of challenges and setbacks due to our life schedule and exams. But, we managed to do them side-by-side. We allocated time just for the project. We thank our school and friends for encouraging us to participate and my team member for finishing the project.

References

We have used tools and applications to make a 3D model of the water maker and the spacecraft.

The name of the device is Tinkercad. We have used images from Google in order to illustrate our project in an easier way too.
