Multifunctional Tool Cart

High-Level Project Summary

Landing on red ground posed a major challenge in the mission, some parts were lost from the landing and the rover wheel on landing was damaged. To continue the mission, it was necessary to use 3D printers to manufacture dynamic parts of metal, plastic and concrete. The parts were assembled semi-fitted according to the need for easy and usual assembly, seeking to save on supplements. Good parts manufacturing techniques were developed, with an easy design, with high strength.

Detailed Project Description

The elaboration was conceived by parts of easy production, generating agility in its manufacture. A universal trolley made up of common parts and tools was built. The first part consists of a multifunctional handlebar, containing adaptable tools and lever arms. Wheel axles are common tools for work and personal use, consisting of threaded bar and adjustable nuts, screwdriver and phillips, plastic profile, plastic platform, metal wheel. The functional and structural part of the trolley has a variety of concrete parts to resist impervious loading capacity, obtaining strength and practicality to transport volumes. Possessing parts profile in concrete, circular plate in metal. Metal, plastic and concrete parts were used to build a hydraulic jack, in case it is necessary to lift structures in eventual maintenance of the rover wheel. The universal trolley can be used in different forms of use, due to its formation of constructive and agile parts to handle, containing relevant items for adaptations in use. Some non-fitting parts were designed to facilitate the assembly and disassembly of the cart.

Space Agency Data

As tools in the cabin and locomotion of the rover on the mission, predict the replacement and reuse of parts and utensils in their maintenance, with the possibility of testing the development of a new component. Working and living in the mission, printer manufacturing techniques 3 must be taken into account, as not everything goes as expected, solutions and solutions are essential factors for day-to-day survival. Designing tools from reusable parts is a big challenge, that is, not always and without a tool with a defined format for another component, in this way, developing a good production technique and agility are relevant factors to minimize in time. Faced with some resistance, we seek to innovate in dynamic tool formats, strengthening resistance and pursuing its quest to serve the diversities used.

Hackathon Journey

During the challenging journey of the Hackathon, experiences lived at the Space Apps event together with mentors, students and colleagues, we witnessed innovation, constant creativity in every moment of this journey of more than 26 hours over two days of constant learning. We would like to thank Professors Rodrigo Marudi, Felipe Rigolim and Reinaldo, being great merits in our experience of challenges, expectations were addressed at all times, and hope did not cease to exist, seeking to reach this challenge that we seek to challenge ourselves constantly. The choice of topic and research arose from unexpected moments of technological innovation that we are studying in our graduations and internships, in a way, the topic addressed was enough for us to learn to deal with and expect unexpected unforeseen events in our journeys. We seek to appreciate every moment of research, seeking to be part of history as if what happened were reality, to feel the greatness of the challenge! I would like to thank everyone who took part in this event, and everyone who could contribute to making it possible to happen again! Thanks.

Hope to do it again, all over again!
