Mars - Living Beyond

High-Level Project Summary

We have just arrived on Mars and we will build a Habitat spot that allows us to have proper conditions to carry out various survival activities and science studies of human survival on the red planet.To carry out each activity we have three 3D printers to be used to build the necessary tools and furniture for our one year stay on Mars. The raw materials are limited, therefore we need to take advantage of each material by doing a goood distribution of them in order to build tools and furnitures neccesary for our survival . In addition a wheel of our rover was damaged and we must design and print a new one. We are alone in this planet and there is not turning back, it is time to work.

Detailed Project Description

We are in Mars now, it is time to work to build our habitat with basic components for a one year living.


Our mission goals are to determine the basic conditions for future colonies on the planet, by implementing scientific studies and submmit our outcomes to Earth planet. The habitat makes enough food, water, breathable air, and power to keep you alive for now, however for one year mission we need to create a space to raise plants, another for scientific tasks and a small space to rest and special needs.


Considering the martian surface and weather, this habitat is a semi-underground rectangular space, located on the slopes of Mount Olympous for a greater protection of sand storms or others natural events. The walls are made of concrete to accomplish the determined work areas of the 3D printers.


In addition, we brought a rover for movility tasks accros the martian surface, however one wheel is damaged and needs to be replaced, we are designing a new wheel for the rover .

We used NASA sources brought by the platform to collect information and used it with the inventor sofware.

Hackathon Journey

Team work is essential to achieve goals, this is a great experience, to be challenged to develop new ideas help us to raise our creativity and bring solutions for several difficulties that manking may face in the future.


What really inspired us to choose this challenge is to create, design and search new methods of work to bring solutions. To have a guide and resources brougth by the platform, facilitated to look for links and read how NASA has worked itss programas in previous years.


The approach was to develop 3D images to support astronauts inn Mars and they may use this material to build their own habitat and basic tools and furniture to live in red planet in the red planet
