To Mars too Easy!

High-Level Project Summary

Our challenge is ''how to use a 3D printer to start 1-year survival plan on Mars''. In order to make life on Mars more convenient and fun, the design concepts of our objects are based on practicality and fun.For example, the ''Footprint Tire'' so that you will never get lost .The Arbitrarily assemble : ''Universal Furniture Puzzle'',.We also invented the playful ''8+1 multi-tool set, which allows you to blow bubbles after repairing. Finally, in order to survive on Mars, we designed a anti-sandstorm wall that can generate electricity. You can even graffiti on it. Let's explore Mars with ''To Mars''!

Our goal is to build everything necessary to survive a year on Mars. Below are the tools we designed. You can do VR operation through our demo website. Let's experience life on Mars.

The genderless robot is on the top of mountain . let's find it together.

In this project, we designed a number of practical and interesting objects, including: footprint tires, universal furniture puzzles, 7+1 multi-function tool set, wind power generation & windproof graffiti wall combination, etc.

The ''Footprint Tires'' allows you to always follow the footprints on Mars and find your way home! The shape of the feet is printed out through the tire texture combined with the plastic 3D printing. As long as the probe passes by, it will leave footprints, so you don't have to worry about getting lost on Mars!

''Universal Jigsaw Furniture'' can be easily assembled and disassembled. The material is made by plastic 3D printing. It is lightweight and can be changed at any time, making your home on Mars full of fun! Although it is made of plastic, the hexagonal design structure makes the furniture particularly sturdy and can bear 300 kilograms. It is also designed according to the body shape of men and women and the body shape of each person. ''Universal Jigsaw Furniture'' can adjust the length, width and height of the furniture according to individual needs. , used in beds, cabinets, tables and chairs, etc., are very close to everyone's needs.

''7+1 multi-tool set'' is composed of plastic and metal materials, including toothbrush, screwdriver, wrench, hammer, spoon, fork, flat-blade screwdriver and hexagonal wrench, and the hexagonal wrench can also be Blowing bubble wand, from getting up in the morning to tire repair, all kinds of daily life can be done at one time, and the bubble blowing function is specially designed to make life on Mars more fun.

''Wind Power & Sandstorm Prevention Graffiti Wall'' is composed of plastic and concrete materials. It uses the wind on Mars to achieve wind power generation. When the sandstorm comes, the barrier plate and the concrete wall can prevent the sandstorm together. When closed, you can also use the wind blocking board as a graffiti wall to paint on it through the wipeable material of the wind blocking board! Letting you live alone on Mars is not boring!

We hope that the various components that accompany you in your life on Mars are very convenient, practical and fun, To Mars too Easy!

Space Agency Data

We referenced the model of Curiosity on ARC 3D Models Database, which helped us understand the actual tread and shape of the Curiosity rover, so that we can modify it based on this.

Deep Space Habitability Design Guidelines Based on the NASA NextSTEP Phase 2 Ground Test Program

Some of the design ideas in this document let us understand what human beings need when living on Mars. Inspiring our ideas about multi-purpose tools, and helping us think about diversity.

NASA Analog Missions

It helps us understand the difficulties we may encounter on Mars. The loneliness of living alone in space is also something that needs to be aware of. It lets us think of some game and sports equipment, to maintain astronauts' physical and mental health in space.

Hackathon Journey

This hackathon gave us a great teamwork experience. We are doing what we are good at in different fields. From the story design at the beginning, to the design of the appropriate presentation of the work, and the 30-second description of the work, we are discussing all the time, what strategies should be used to win this competition, which is really exciting. NASA's questions are very creative and challenging. We chose the mission of surviving on Mars for 100 days. During this period, we had to use a 3D printer to implement our daily necessities. In order to make the works more immersive, we built a virtual Mars scene and designed a variety of tools that can be used on mars. Each tool, we have specially designed it to have a special meaning. Anyway, we hope you all like it.
