Cosmos Open Science

High-Level Project Summary

New discoveries are made everyday, about our planet, our galaxy, our universe, and even about ourselves, but that knowledge is still far from the usual people that don't devote time to read a scientific magazine online, or they get their informations from social media, which can be misleading. That is the reason why Cosmos Open Science is here! Cosmos Open Science is an app that gather the large amount of information available and organize it so that the users can have easy access to it, and use it to study. With COS the users can choose what kind of information they want to know about, the level of complexity of it, and always get the newest informations about the scientific discoveries.

Detailed Project Description

An "Cosmos Open Science" is an idealization of a tool to democratize science, giving anyone the opportunity to access information made available by NASA itself. The intention of this project is to show that knowledge of science, especially astronomy, does not need to be a privilege, because including the population in subjects such as this is also contributing to new advances.

Hackathon Journey

Our team thought of something close to the reality of Brazil, because the lack of access and protection of science is something very notable in the reality of our country. Therefore, we decided to better understand the side of people who experience the difficulty of access to information. With this, developing something was gratifying, because in the end we felt we had done a little within such an important theme.
