New Metric System for Evaluating Open Science

High-Level Project Summary

The idea of open science is now getting widespread as its popularity is getting amplified rapidly. Scientists and researchers around the globe are now considering open science as a future of modern way of doing science. But, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of this idea a metric system is required and the current metric system are mostly based on citation counts. These indices are obtained by sacrificing a lot of aspects of a paper. In this short report, Team Explorers have devised a new metric to evaluate the effectiveness of Open Science Via three parameters: Methodology (Novelty), Reproducibility, Implementation.

Detailed Project Description

We have devised a new metric system for evaluating open science. Our metric doesnot based on the traditional citiation based method. Our metric uses three input parameters they are as:

1) Methodology

2) Reproducibility

3) Implement-ability

These are parameters helps to asses papers and provide the insight about the papers. This new approach is more science centered rather than a competition for citation based one.

Space Agency Data

We doesn't have use any Space Agency's data for our project.

Hackathon Journey

Our team’s Space App experience was quite productive. We learn about how researchers are rank on their work and what steps must be taken to make the science open and accessible for every intelligent creature on Earth. Our approach is to make the science easy and accessible for everyone. During the project our team faces some difficulties and challenges but we resolve it by dividing the task among each other.
