Make a Moonquake Map!

High-Level Project Summary

A large number of very small moonquakes have been detected by the Apollo seismic network that were deployed on different Apollo missions. And these data sits far from reach for an average being. So this naturally calls for a visual representation for the data that engages and creates awareness for the importance of these missionsSo our aim was to create an experience where the user can go about various quakes recorded on Moons surface and experience them with a bumpy CAR RIDE! : D

Detailed Project Description

Our project consists of a 3-d model of moon on which a car is deployed, which navigates us throughout the moon who is also our guide which shows us all the sesmic recordings of the area it's present at . We also added a feature which allows us to feel the quakes by shaking of our guide, if the quakes are strong our guide shakes vigorously

The user will have a toggle box to select from range of seismic recording to which they can select and play the recording while moving on the moon floor and experience the bumpy ride..

The project will make people aware about the seismic activities on moon while having fun

There were surely some shortcommings where we couldnt implement the car physics due to the short time

Hackathon Journey

It was a great experience to have and got to learn alot

from learning about different web tools to learning about the details of apollo missions and the sensors that captured the data was truly a fun experience

Our main inspiration for the project was to learn about 3d visualisation and adding real life data to it where other people can use the app to experience it which might spark curiosity of some in field of space.

Creating engaging experience also motivated us in creating and choosing this Topic.

We faced some setbacks where we were'nt able to code cause of hardware issues, we also faced some technical shortcomings where the modules were not working as they were supposed to. Because of which we were not able to add the physics system for the car, which was our main functionality.

But we hope to add that soon in next updates in future......
