Nimbus exploration feat

High-Level Project Summary

We have developed an android gaming application with help of which players can make themselves acquainted with the achievements of NASA’s Earth-observing missions using various Nimbus satellites. Players will have to explore different combinations of technologies in order to launch the satellite else it will fail, this will make players to remember about all the technologies which will lead to exponential growth in learning about every Nimbus satellite.

Detailed Project Description

We have developed an android gaming application with help of which players can make themselves acquainted with the achievements of NASA’s Earth-observing missions using various Nimbus satellites. Our app starts with the first screen which is a type of splash screen having our Team name and background screen.

After the duration of the splash screen, our dashboard appears on the screen. On the dashboard, we are having different buttons having a different type of technologies.

One button is of information which tells us the information about the selected Nimbus.

At the center of the dashboard, we have a revolving rocket. By default, Nimbus 1 is selected. We can change the nimbus by clicking on the change icon on the dashboard.

Now select the technology required to launch the rocket. If the selected technology matches the required technology then the satellite will launch otherwise we can click on the information button and can see the required technology to launch the satellite. After getting the hint we can easily assemble the rocket.

If the rocket launches successfully, our rocket launching screen will appear with animations as well as some information about the rocket on that screen itself.

We have used Canva for UI/UX Design, XML Codes for UI/UX Deployment, JAVA For logic building, Three Js. for the 3D rocket, CSS for rocket designing, and HTML for Three Js and CSS integration.

We have used Android Studio for app development.

Space Agency Data

As our project is all about exploring the Nimbus Satellite, We have used all the data from the NASA website Itself. Data obtained from NASA gives us much more valuable information about the Nimbus satellite. We used this information in our gaming app to present information to the player whenever they are stuck in between the game.

Information about the Nimbus satellites is displayed in a very attractive manner. Whenever a player wants to learn some facts about any kind of technology, the player will be able to access that. In order to pass in a game, a player will need to have some idea of the Nimbus, if they lack it, no worries we have provided a hint to the player.

Hackathon Journey

NASA space apps gave us tremendous knowledge of the sector we all were lacking blooming vision i.e. Astronomy. It has made us aware of various aspects of a single event. Researching a specific topic makes us conscious of nearby aspects too and we had learned much about not only NIMBUS and earth-ranging satellites but also about satellites in detail too.

Our inspiration came from learning primitive satellite models and most importantly imparting knowledge to learners. Traditional knowledge departing system was best but in a matter of time, we should refrain from it and think of the latest ideas to educate. Improving this was the prime inspiration over here.

Gaming culture was in bloom in this decade so we just integrated both learning and gaming. Enjoying your work gives you the most out of it so this unique combination will make learning more effective. We’ll compile a rocket as our result with its facts as components and if the person is correct on the facts the data, he/she will get a surprise launch of his rocket.

Setbacks and challenges are in every phase of life. We too experienced time management issues and some basic errors. Well, errors could get resolved but conquering time is difficult. So we spent sleepless hours a day long and took small naps in phases in order to keep work ongoing.

Lastly, we would like to thank our coordinator representing the event since he guided us for quite a time and even gave some suggestions. The best part was his motivation which led our path out of work anxiety.
