GEOM

High-Level Project Summary

We developed a multiplatform game where you can buy and build Satellites so that you can solve problems linked to climate change. By doing this you can compare it to the already existing Eos Satellites and see how well you built it. With this project we want to show to the younger generations why we are spending all these money on those Space projects but, at the same time, we want to make learning phase more interesting thanks to gaming.

Detailed Project Description

This project is a game that allows the user to build their own Satellite and analyze Earth problems caused by climate change. In this web app you can also answer some questions and challenge other people thanks to in-game limited challenges. Another important thing is the presence of well documented sections for all the users that want to learn more about these Satellites. With this tool we want to show the benefits and importance that NASA's projects have and, at the same time, we want to make everything more interesting, especially to the younger generations. We would like to achieve a new awareness about the problems caused by the Human presence and, by giving the possibility of becoming a “fictional engineer”, we want people to understand why it is so important to spend all these money on Space research. We used these coding languages: HTML CSS JavaScript.

Space Agency Data

For this project we used principally Nasa’s data about the Eos Satellites. We also used the 3D models of these Satellites, again found on Nasa’s database.

Hackathon Journey

Our SpaceApp experience has been great, in fact we discovered some useful databases for future projects and also for personal interest. Probably the thing that we enjoyed more was working together in order to find a product that could have an impact on how people perceive climate change and Space Launches. We decided to work on this project because we thought that was the one more suited to our skills. We managed to resolve setbacks by thinking from the user P.O.V. so that we knew if our project could be really interesting. (Ditemi chi ringraziare, io pensavo il Team ma non saprei dare bene il motivo)
