On the Way to the Sun - Parker Solar Probe's Journey

High-Level Project Summary

Humanity has always wondered about space, the stars, and what the universe brings since the big bang. Every time they looked at the sky, various questions and answers passed through their minds. We have been evolving for years to answer these questions. One of the most important of these developments for us is the Parker Solar Satellite. Because if we can touch the sun, we can do many more wonderful things.

Detailed Project Description

When we were preparing the website, it was as if we had made a part that included everything we had made of the model, video, and presentation. But besides this, we can say that it was the most detailed part we did. We have put a feature that guides them to the meaning of the word when they click on the terminological words that people may not know. We also used as many resources as possible and added every resource we used to the resources section. We have added links so that people can access them quickly. We put 3D images drawn from various angles so that people can recognize the appearance of the Parker satellite. The video we have prepared is also on the site. Our e-mail account and Instagram account are available on the site for people to contact us directly. Our motto is that there are no limits in space. That's exactly why, to cross borders, to move forward more, and to help humanity to the next level. We have prepared this site to show that we can increase our potential now.

When making our video, we watched documentaries, youtube videos and read articles about the subject. We then analyzed all the videos we watched. Since video is something that will appeal to everyone due to the age we are in, we have made a lot of effort, especially when making it. We used sections from Nasa's own shared videos and carefully selected and edited each image. We collected the articles we were going to write in a word file beforehand, and then we read these articles, recorded our voices, and added them to the video. In the video, we specifically talked about everything that Parker has been through, and for impressiveness, we chose and added a soundtrack, paying attention to copyrights. While making our video, we used Capcut, Vimeo, and Canva applications.

While preparing the presentation, we examined the presentations of the global candidates of the previous years. We summarized and analyzed the information we collected, and then started working on the aesthetic appearance. Since our goal is to inform people and attract their attention, we used vivid colors in the presentation and used colors close to each other to avoid confusion and to please the eye.

When we were making our model, our goal was actually to make something that children could see and touch. For this, we first made drawings on paper, and then researched and bought the necessary materials. We created the upper and lower parts with PVC-like plastic. Then we created the other parts using the contours that we cut with the MDF cutting machine. It was a novice model, but we will still think that it will contribute to the imagination of children.

Hackathon Journey

For us, this was very fun, but at the same time exhausting experience. It's the first time we've attended something like this. But what we learned, in our opinion, was unique. Learn a lot of important things about teamwork, task distributions, and proper research. Thanks to this event, we learned how important it is to use resources and indicate what we use.

On the first day, everyone was texting each other and talking about how beautiful and different the environment was. Obviously, we were more excited about the things we thought the environment we were in would bring us than the event. There was a presentation on the first day. They told us again the rules and what we had to do in fine detail. Selman Live told us about the opportunities that participating in this event will provide us and encouraged us. Obviously, his speech was very comforting to our team. The presentation did not take very long.

When it was time to work, everyone started their work according to their task distribution. We completed our model on the first day. There was only one drawback, and that was that the solar panels had not yet been added. But we handled it on Sunday without any problems.

We would like to thank our teacher Cem Yurtlak for the photos.

The things we did on the first day were making the video, editing the presentations and setting up the website. We avoided confusion by listening to each other and using the same data on all of them. These were easy to write, but difficult and exhausting to do. We were constantly working hard, like other teams, because we wanted to do our best.

A few photos showing our teamwork and the moments of making the model.

After eating our lunches on the first day, we participated in fun activities. Thanks to this, we both communicated with other teams, and a beautiful bond was formed between us and the people we competed with and met. Dec. These activities were archery, golf, and dart games and we played a kind of stick-pulling game where we showed our physical strength. Our teachers participated in these activities with us. Thanks to this, funny and funny moments appeared. We would like to thank all our teachers who joined us in these activities.

  • On the second day, we came in a much more energetic way as a team. Our model was finished, our video was almost finished, and only resources would be added to the website. Of course, this is also easy for a person when writing, but it was not so.
  • Since today was the last day, there was actually uneasiness and excitement hidden in all of us. A lot of teams came to us and handed out their brochures, and we mutually talked about our projects. The problems experienced today were actually common to everyone. Such as an Internet connection, files not being uploaded, or audio not coming out properly in the video. We were constantly in touch with them, as we attended the same school as the desks that were right next to us. In our opinion, talking to different teams was a way to relieve stress for both teams. We were calling teachers at almost the same time and always talking about the same problems. At this time, we were trying to turn the demo presentation into a demo video.

One of the reasons we started the second day energetically was that they greeted us with music in the morning. Although the songs didn't appeal to everyone, we thought it was nice. One of the most important parts of the second day was that the judges visited us and we told them about our project. Our team showed both the model and the presentation to the juries in the event area. We gave them a little information about the Parker Solar Probe.

After all this, we finished the second day with the presentation that the Secret Oguz teacher gave us. He gave us information about NASA's Artemis project. He told about his own educational life and career. We are very, very grateful to him for answering every question we put to him.

It was a great experience for us and it added a lot to us. We would like to thank all the teachers and students who contributed. Once again, we look forward to seeing you with a much more beautiful project.
