On The Way To The Sun
High-Level Project Summary
Our team developed a website that provides insightful information about the Parker Solar Probe and its journey to make observations of the outer corona of the Sun. The website provides a user friendly experience to enable people to easily access information and learn more about the only object to ever "touch" the Sun. The website also depicts seven different videos all made by our team that aim to graphically illustrate the various events surrounding the journey of the Probe.

Detailed Project Description
Our project consists of a website built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript along with Three JS for 3D modeling and animating the landing page. The landing page links to the timeline which uses CSS animations to dynamically represent the various events and features of the Parker Solar Probe. The timeline page of the website contains links to the seven videos titled as follows:
- About the Parker Solar Probe
- Design of the Probe
- Space Weather Phenomena
- Timeline of PSP
- PSP interactions with Venus
- Exploring the Sun
- Earth's MagnetoSphere
The aim of the project is to educate users about the story of the Parker Probe in a way that is appealing even to children.
Space Agency Data
For the purpose of designing the videos, the content was acquired from the official NASA website, more specifically the Solar Space Exploration page. The images captured by the Parker Solar Probe including the first visible-light images of Venus, helped inspired the design for a majority of our videos.
Our website also takes inspiration from the design of the Probe and depicts information in a way that is captivating even to children to help pique their interest in space exploration.
Hackathon Journey
Coming together as a team and working for Nasa Space Apps Hackathon was an exciting experience. Sure this was challenging but hackathons are all about interacting with people and learning great things because it teaches you more than what you would learn yourself in a pretty good amount of time. Apart from this, we learned about NASA’s Parker Solar Probe mission which revolutionize our understanding of the Sun.
