Interactive map of natural disasters

High-Level Project Summary

The app that we have developed is designed to interactively display a world map with a development of natural disasters. On the page where the map is displayed, we have put some filters that can adjust the view of the different natural disasters. Our app is aimed at teaching and raising awareness of the younger generation.

Detailed Project Description

It is an interactive map of natural disasters (only developed an earthquake test section). When you enter the page you enter certain parameters, it shows on the map the points where natural disasters have been generated with these parameters. Since it is an interactive application, it may become more appropriate for teaching and raising awareness of the younger generation.

Our team hopes to create a tool that helps raise awareness and education of natural disasters and that, in turn, helps develop more measures to prevent cases of death or destruction of areas affected by such disasters.

For this project we have used: html, css, javascript, json, webstorm, sublime, visual studio, bitbucket, image shelves, chrome, discord and drive.

Hackathon Journey

It has been a new experience for the whole group. We have worked with tools that we had not used until now and being a group of different higher computer science degrees, we have been able to learn from each other. It was an affordable challenge that we could aspire to with the knowledge we have. Our approach in developing this project is to make it simple and interactive. We have overcome the setbacks and challenges that have arisen during this hackathon by working as a group and asking the coordinators for help. We want to thank the organizers of this event for preparing it and giving us the opportunity to learn and work together.
