Planetarium

High-Level Project Summary

Our project is a Planetarium with the goal of delivering information regarding Climate change (specifically; air pollution, and water pollution). So, we developed a game that has a planetarium, small quizzes, and a library full of resources that can inform you and train you on climate change facts, data, etc. It is important for people all around the world to acknowledge the fact that the Earth is where we basically live, and if we don't take care about it, we will have no way to get it back.

Detailed Project Description

What exactly does it do?

It delivers information using quizzes and a library that has resources from space agencies like NASA.

How does it work?

It works by going to a screen and it will automatically present to you some questions that we gather from the resources in the library where you can find shelfs that if you click on it will take you to the corresponding data displayed on the shelf.

What benefits does it have?

It helps with gathering information by using a simple approach like a game and it simulates what you can do in a planetarium.

What do you hope to achieve?

We hope to achieve a point where information about our globe is accessible to all sort of people and ages. Secondly, we hope to deliver the information is a simple manner where the user doesn't have to do the research and it will take them to the most trusted and verified sources

What tools, coding languages, hardware, or software did you use to develop your project?

3D Modeling app: Cinema 4D to Model our game prefabs.

Coding language: C++ and premade blueprints.

Game engine: Unreal Engine 5.

Textures and Materials: Unreal Engine 5.

Space Agency Data

We mainly used data from NASA's webpages regarding air pollution and water pollution. We used the data to form quizzes and to form a library where you can go to the URLs where we got the information from. It really inspired us since reading these information while we are in the same planet NASA is talking about, it really touched us in a way that made us come up with our moto; act now to prevent the later.

Hackathon Journey

the journey started with the idea of meeting new people and two group friends being introduced to each other, so the Space App Challenge was the perfect opportunity at the perfect time. Since the start of the challenge, all team members were passionate about having the space and opportunity to develop something that would elevate the climate change issue, and educate our peers and even ourselves. Being from Kuwait, the climate change issue is very tangibly felt in our country with no real education. Choosing the challenge "Capacity-building Resources Gateway", meant that we would have the platform to shed light on the ignorance about the topic and the provided Earth Observation information, as well as the training courses available. We learned how to divide the work equally and fairly distribute the tasks based on the skills of the team members. the time was a major setback since as a team it was our first experience as a team. thanks to DR.
