Here is a small drawing that summarizes a few fun facts about our team members and our team name!
Estevan can be seen on the red planet with his love for reading. On the blue planet is Romain with his enjoyment of gaming. Joseline affiliates her greatest interest to be gaming as well, which is shown in the purple planet. Kaevon has an interest in cars, which is visualized in the grayish-red planet. The bluish-green planet is home to Kenneth, who is fascinated by dinosaurs.
Our team name came from combining magic with science. We believe that some discoveries made by astronauts may seem as if it was magic since there are things that are out of this world.

Hello there! We are the Maginauts and we are a group of hard working individuals with an interest in technology and engineering. We decided to take on the challenge of improving the accessibility and discoverability of records in the public NTRS (NASA Technical Report Server). The team decided to take on a more software based challenge, as it played more towards our strong suit.
We thought it was most efficient to have one team member, Joseline, be the Team Marketer/Designer. She is a designer and artist at heart, but also has interests in computer science. Joseline managed our team's home page, designed our logo and worked on our presentation. The rest of the team was to research, analyze data and develop the app.
Our next team member, Romain is an mechanical engineering student. He has a variety of experience in both coding as well as in designing. He researched what natural language processing is and helped narrow down our objectives for the challenge. Romain designed the user interface for our web app and made sure the app was as streamlined as possible.
Next we have Kenneth, a cyber security student. He has some experience with coding languages and databases. He was tasked with research for setting up the environment for the artificial intelligence as well as developing it.
Kaevon is another teammate, who is studying computer engineering/computer science. He has the most coding experience in the team and was in charge of developing the code to access the files from the NTRS and compile the data into useful information.
Finally last, but not least we have our team leader, Estevan. He helped manage the team and kept us on track. He gave us objectives to complete within a certain time period to stay on track during the hackathon. He also helped any team member that needed it, mainly working with Kaevon since that was our top priority.
The Maginauts were able to work together and keep in touch online. We kept each other updated on our progress as well as making sure to take breaks when needed. We believe this hackathon was a great learning experience for everyone and are hoping for the best!
