GENeonESIS

High-Level Project Summary

Geneonesis is a data visualisation platform (created with Genially), which contemplates different ground microorganisms combination (mainly extremophile) to create a “superhero” that could live without human intervention on different Solar System planets. Our platform answers the problem by providing the main extremophile characteristics of some selected microorganisms in order to be the reference that people could use for creating a “Superhero” that resists spatial conditions. It is important because of its aim: improving knowledge on the microorganisms living around us and how they could be adapted to an alien life.

Detailed Project Description

Objective:

To create organisms that are able to resist different planetary conditions in which they are immersed.

How do we achieve the challenge?

We made an interactive presentation which allows:

users to choose the planet they want,

To talk a little bit about it

To show how the superhero would be formed with some characteristics of other organisms.

Details:

We chose 4 atmospheres of a relatively varied nature:

Mars, Europe, Saturn and Pluto

We made a list of resistant microorganisms of different aspects and we combined them according to each planet.

Purpose and benefits:

To foster curiosity in people about interplanetary research and about how we could send life to it, to accomplish several kinds of functions.

Functioning

First, there will be a menu where the user can choose between starting the mission or aborting it. If the user chooses to start it, it will show the planets mentioned above and the user could choose any of them.

Within the option of each planet, there will be its surface conditions. Then it will show the microorganisms with the necessary properties to mix and make the superhero that will inhabit that planet.

Space Agency Data

From the Oficial NASA website, https://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/imagegallery/iotd.html, we used it to be the background of our project logo, which inspired us to create it.

From the Oficial European Space Agency website, https://www.esa.int/Space_in_Member_States/Spain/Todo_sobre_Mercurio#:~:text=De%20los%20cuatro%20planetas%20interiores,%C2%BAC%20y%20los%20%2B430%20%C2%BAC, we used the Mercury information to be part of our platform.

Hackathon Journey

As a team we consider, based on being our first Hackathon event, that we have experienced such wonderful and interesting 30 hours of work. We started a bit bewildered, but with patience, and the help and motivation given from the TMSA mentors, we could find the perfect way of opening our minds and start working on our project.

Even though we have learnt lots of things in just two days, the main lesson that we have drawn is that we have to be 100% confident of our minds and their huge capacity of creating different ideas and finishing several projects, in addition to always asking for second opinions because “there are no wrong answers, just different points of view”.

We got inspired to choose this challenge since we think that the key for the future is “Biotechnology”.

Our standpoint is focused on promoting the aerospatial life spreading and its effects on living organisms.

Our team faced all the setbacks by organising our tasks in: “To do”, “In process” and “Done”. We think that it is essential to set all the problems on as their start appearing.

We live our first Hackathon totally thankful with all the “The MarsSociety Arg.” team, but mainly we want to express our gratitude with: Paz Álvarez, Camila Britos, Gabriel Yudewitz and Abel Gonzáles because thanks to them we finished this competition. They were the best mentors due to their ability to motivate us not to abandon our project when adversities overwhelmed us.
