Build a space biology superhero

High-Level Project Summary

Humans and other living beings experience certain adversities when facing extreme conditions in space. Many animals have died in space travel and astronauts often suffer a lot of physical and psychological damage, so it is difficult to make progress while ensuring their survival.Due to limited resources, it is necessary to look for living beings that can adapt and survive for long periods of time in order to explore and obtain more information about outer space.

Detailed Project Description

As we have said before, our project is based on a graphic experience where we will be able to observe different problems that certain living beings may face and their possible solutions in order to find a being capable of surviving all of them.

The first thing you will see when running the project will be a menu where you can choose between several options; among them, the one to quit the game and the one to start playing.

When we start playing, we will be displayed in an environment surrounded by different planets, which when clicked will transport us to their environment and will show us in greater depth the problem and solution that we have selected for each case.

With this, what we wanted to do is to let the world know in a simpler and more visual way so that the different people of the world are aware of this type of things that happen in space and that are not easily treated in our day to day life.

For this we have used a graphic engine called Unity where all code written will be in C# language.

Space Agency Data

The information that we have gathered for this project mainly comes from theese links:

Here, it is thoroughly described every animal that has been sent to space, including information such as dates, names and results of the travel.

Here, there are named 5 main threats of Spaceflight, the dangers that not only humans but animals have to go through in order to acomplish their mission.

Hackathon Journey

It has been a rather interesting experience and quite different from other similar events we have participate in. It has been a process that implies doing a deep research and since the topic was free-choice from a large list we were able to decide a thematic that we all like.

The challange was chosen because our members are keen on Biology and we are all concern about all living beings' welfare and respect for life. We need to put a big effort into always trying to reduce exposing someone (be it human or animal) to danger as much as posible. However, we understand that without all the brave people that have put their lives on the line we couldn't have learnt what we currently know about the space.

With this project we aim to raise the awarness of this issue to people in general. Teamwork has been key to develop this proposal and I would like to thank all of the people that are involved in this event and who have been taking care of us.
