Detailed Project Description

HOW TO PLAY

Rules and Regulations:

First of all, you need to know your own identity. Every identity has its own characters in the game and different purposes that are set for them.

Game Rules:

There are 36 blocks in the game. You can move whichever block you want according to the white lines. Whoever reaches the end wins the game. There are white stars for which you can get a special card. If the special card of the star is taken by others, the other players which step on it the second time cannot obtain the special card anymore. Each character has its own purpose to fulfill. They are stated in the characters’ introduction. At the start of the game, each player will receive 3 health and 5 oxygen. Identity Cards will be randomly given to assigning your Character in the game. More information is stated below. And there left are Resource Cards, Threat Cards, and Special Cards. Resource cards are picked up depending on how much health you have and are laid down on the board by how many you want to put onto the board. It will defend against Challenge Cards and you can move one step (except for radio blackout). Challenge Cards are being used by one of the players according to the order in one full turn. It was a disaster that will take away resource cards and if the requirements are not to be achieved (means not enough resource cards to defend against a certain threat) life will be taken away. The Special Cards, are meant to give benefits to certain players and they are mixed together in resource cards. Further information on the functions of the cards is stated below.

Characters Introduction:

NASA- The only character that will have to tell other players their identity when the game starts. Their aim is to finish the entire adventure by using the most advanced technology that NASA promotes and by the power of the SUPPORTER (going to be introduced under the statement below) to win the game.

SUPPORTERS- Their purpose is just to support NASA to win the competition. That’s it.

PROTESTERS- Their purpose is to oppose NASA from completing the adventure. They are meant to obliterate NASA en route towards the goal. They will need to kill NASA by using Threat Cards to win.

For other space companies like SPACE-X and ORBITAL, the winning chance is to finish the game without the help of anyone and win before NASA does. They are neutral characters.

Cards: Identity Cards

-NASA

-SUPPORTERS

-PROTESTERS

-SPACE-X

-ORBITAL Resource Cards

-Shield (to defend against certain threats)

-Artificial Gravity (to defend against certain threats)

-Temperature Control (to defend against certain threats)

-Nonradioactive suit (to defend certain threats)

-Support (to request help from other plates, which the chosen player is obliged to give one of oneself’s resource card if the distance between the targeted player are not beyond two blocks away)

Challenge Cards (there are also other requirements called move requirement which enables you to move if you overcame the threats):

-Black Hole (take all the resource cards that are placed on the board and take one oxygen only)

-Oxidative Stress (1 temperature control, 2 artificial gravity)

Super Power Cards

-Photosynthesis (provide never-ending oxygen)

-Resistance (provide a never-ending shield)

-Strength (provide never-ending Artificial Gravity)

-Regulation system (provide never-ending warmth)

-Immunity (defend any radiation)

-Move (to move one step or cause others to step back one step if the distance between the targeted player is not beyond two blocks away)

-Hibernation (Cannot move for one round. It can be used on other players or oneself. Threats will not take away any resource cards that are placed while hibernating.)

Hackathon Journey

Project Summary Within 48 hours, we developed a new prototype of a board game. It was designed to tell the people about numerous challenges that might happen during space exploration. The board game tells everything about the threats that will be brought in during space exploration, rivals and competitors that are trying to dethrone NASA. But NASA, ultimately overcame all of that to achieve a certain goal. It is important for all people to know about space flights and it will excite them and give them the urge to learn more about space.

Hackathon Journey

We started as a group of 6 as our group leader keeps enticing people to join in. He has went across some classes on the same block of our school. We went to the workshop after a few days. We worked together to answer some questions that were given by the mentor and we earned some of the points. The points are told to used as a currency to redeem some of the merchandise. It was fun at the workshop and there were plenty of activities there. And the time comes down to a few days left towards the competition. We did some of the online meeting to converge our idea and made them into one, which is constructing a board game. On the day when the entire thing starts, we gather ourselves in an apartment and we cut the cards out, we write summaries, construct the 30 seconds video. We use programmes to edit the video and made it perfect. We played the board game over and over again to make sure that there’s no gaps in between. We were having fun together, and thanks to this project that brings us together. Space Agency Data We used some of the data form the space app site to construct the challenge cards. We also gathered most of our data from the NASA official website. We used the data that is provided to make our own cards. Detailed project description This project is about a board game that is constructed by us.

There are 36 blocks in the game. You can move whichever block you want according the white lines. Whoever reaches the end wins the game. There are white stars which you can get a special card. More information is stated below. And there left Resource Cards, Threat Cards and Special Cards. Resource cards are picked up depending on how much health you have and to be laid down on the board by how many you want to put onto the board. It will defend against Challenge Cards. Challenge Cards are being used by one of the players according to the order in a one full turn. It was a disaster that will take away resource cards and if the requirements are not to be achieved (means not enough resource cards to defend against a certain threat) a life will be taken away. For the Special Cards, they are meant to give benefits to certain players and they are mixed together in resource cards. Further information of the functions of the cards are stated in the game rules.

We used NASA official website, Canva, Visual Studio Code, Filmora, Audacity, iPhone Camera, google docs and google drive as software support. We also used a HP laptop, some of our phone, the brands are iPhone, Samsung, Huawei. Some papers, card films and a paper cutter as production support. This game tells the people more about challenges that astronauts will face in a space exploration project and tells about the competitors which is against NASA organisation.
