Introducción

Hello viewer! My name is Sebastián Cruz, I represent the“Moon Knights”.

Inspiración

We would like to present our solution to the challenge “Build a space Biology superhero”, a comic called “Cosmic Defender”, which we have created in order to create awareness about the effects of pollution  in the environment.

Solución

[Title: Cosmic Defender; Tagline: “Beyond the limits of infinity”]

We did this through the main character, “Vortex”, the last human after we exterminated all life on Earth due to pollution; so he goes around the cosmos to save other lifeforms from destroying their own planets; therefore teaching the reader about the value of life and the impact of pollution on the environment.

El producto

This is true, I am the defender of all life; Vortex. Aided with my superpowers to withstand the harsh ambient that is space. I have the powers of many microorganisms, a Tardigrade’s cryptobiosis, allowing me to survive even with no resources. A Conan’s ability to create a protective barrier to resist lethal amounts of radiation and UV light. A grass Bacillus' ability to grow larger in space. I can thrive in places where it would otherwise be impossible for many.

El futuro

Overall, with this comic we would like to achieve an interesting and deep story for readers to enjoy; a story that not only teaches about the effects of pollution but can also have an appealing plot with likable characters. For the future we envision more installments of the “Cosmic Defender” comic series in different languages so everyone around the world can read about the damaging effects of pollution; thus creating awareness of this problem on a global scale and hopefully together we can save the planet before it is too late.

Viñeta 1

This story begins in your home, the planet Earth. For centuries the planet had been a prosperous and lively planet; home to many beings but one day, their inhabitants stopped caring about their home. Humanity had taken over as the superior race on Earth but at the same time they were the only ones responsible for its demise. Heh, Ironic.

Viñeta 2

What did they do? They produced pollution, infected the natural resources with smog, trash, plastic, any kind of waste was produced and tossed into many environments. The remaining ecosystems were destroyed so humanity could make buildings to satisfy their own greed.

Viñeta 3

Not once did they ever care about who lived there before, not once did they wonder where their trash ended up; not once did they ever bother to do something about it, always pinning it onto the next person in front of them.

Viñeta 4

It was clear what would happen, they always knew.

The Earth saw itself in a state of such heavy pollution the atmosphere itself was damaged, acid rain formed, the land became infertile, species began to die left and right. Humanity soon followed. All life on Earth had ceased and began to wither away.

Only then did humanity actually try to save the Earth, but by then it was too late. What little life was left was not enough to establish life on the planet. Humanity had always seen its demise but only when it was right in their faces did they ever try to stop it. They had many chances.

Viñeta 6

So, in a final desperate attempt, humanity created superhumans, a race capable of withstanding any environment no matter how hostile. Unfortunately for them, only one experiment was successful. 

Me. 

I, Vortex, am the last remaining human. My race died out long before I was awakened.

Viñeta 7

I could not save the Earth, by the time I was active, everything was gone. I failed my purpose.

But I swore to protect other life forms from the same fate my planet had. 

That is why I am here, I want all of you to live; I need you all to see the damage you've caused to your home. 

It is not too late to change.
