High-Level Project Summary

We are the team Tardigrade, we worked on solving the “ build a space biology superhero “, for this particular challenge we have made a Game built by Unity Stack.The Game takes the 5 hazards as a challenge that the spaceship should pass by in the space flight, from gravity change to radiation to being alone in space and collecting enough DNA will make the Superhero.We used DNA, we found that the fastest your " DNA " changes the better you can adapt so the real superhero is the one who has a fast changing DNA.The solution is important because we create a fun learning competitive game based on real data and informations, so the players will have funny time and also learn through the game.

Detailed Project Description

We are the team Tardigrade, we worked on solving the “ build a space biology superhero “, for this particular challenge we have made a Game built by Unity Stack.

The Game takes the 5 hazards as a Challenges that the spaceship should pass by in through the space flight, from gravity change to radiation to alone in the space.

The Organism we used were the mouse and the Microbes, Each organism has it own ability and strength against one of the Hazards, so for example you have the Mouse adapt quickly to the gravity changes so when you play with the mouse Pack (we will explain PACK later) you will find it easy to pass the gravity challenges and the same for Microbes with radiation.


We made 2 type of Packs, one for the mouse called “ mouse pack “ and one for the Microbes “ micro pack “, each pack has it own strength against one of the hazards, also there is another variation that will make you a Superhero ( which means that nothing can have a bad effect on you and you will be capable of adapting rapidly in the space ) which is DNA CHANGE SPEED, Nasa found that when the cells put in new stresses it will try to adapt and so the faster you adapt the better, so in this game you will have to collect “ DNA “ so you can make it fast to become a Superhero and also you can reduce the damage of the Hazards on your Health Power.


The Main competition of the game is to reach the MARS in less days than the other players, there is many methods like using only the Packs to pass through challenges, or collecting the DNA more and taking risks so in the end you become a Real Superhero with a Fast DNA change which means fast Adapting to the Hazards.


The players will learn and have fun through the game by going through the challenges that are real in the space uor there, we will teach them and help them understand the space flight steresses so we can plan a future of space travelling.


We hope we can grow our game to become the presentation of what’s going on outside our planet earth , and also make a lot of people interested in this domain and see also the smallest organisms as heroes.


In this particular project we used Unity and C# for developing the game and also we used the free version of Figma to design the app and of course Google slides for our presentation.

Hackathon Journey

The hackathon NASA SPACE APP CHALLENGE at Algiers was at our university organised by Micro CLub, the experience we had was mix of Fun and Hard work to complete the Challenge, we spent more time on Brainstorming so we can make the game funny and educative at the same time.

The organisation in general was very good, nice food and clean spots and nice people to be with in the location.
