Artverse

High-Level Project Summary

Firstly, we saw that one of he biggest problems in astronomical education is that mathematics and algorithms are the only thing that is being taught to children. Even though we agree that we should follow this to some extend, the power "art" holds during the development of an independent mind is inevitable. There is also this fact that not all people can reach out to whatever we say. Therefore we created an educative, motivate video.

Detailed Project Description

Our project is extremely simple indeed, It is just a hand-made animation all over (Scenes, editing and even the voice-over!). It simply shows that art has been a factor in the Universe all the time. From the Big-Bang Theory to the Huge Crash Theory. It includes a timeline of possible events (and/or theories in some parts) such as (in order) the creation of our galaxy, our solar system and then specifically us. Then relying on to the biggest theories, a black hole invades the system. This shows that the universe is made of art and the human is made of the universe.

Then the huge crash begins, universe collapses and starts all over again! We used Procreate 5.2.6, CapCut, OpenToonz for scenes and Soundtrap with a help of SoundCloud for the self-made music over.

Space Agency Data

We used several portals of NASA in order to generally research and get inspiration from: Scientific Visualization Studio and Open-Source Science Initiative.

Then we used more data from NASA for research purposed specifically on a subject. These websites include: "NASA's Hubble Shows Milky Way is Destined for Head-On Collision", "THE STORY OF PHI, THE WORLD'S MOST ASTONISHING NUMBER" and lastly "Sagittarius A*: NASA Telescopes Support Event Horizon Telescope in Studying Milky Way's Black Hole"

We also used ESA and New Zealand Space Agency in order to get some ideas but did not look for a datum specifically.

Additionally, we also used NASA's archived sound records of the Sun and Venus (Since Venus is trending nowadays) and harmonized it with a beat (From our radio knowledge, we managed to do that).

Hackathon Journey

We became such social bugs that at the end we were so sorry to see all these end.

We entered the tournament room with dance songs open while we are dancing freely. While trying to gain the energy to work better, we also shared this positive energy with other teams too.

Actually the prejudice that some of the astronomy community members have against arts made us believe that this challenge should be talked about.

And of course every good thing has a doppelganger. We had such a setback right before our presentation.

Our computer was unable to connect to the presentation device and we were in such a depressed mood. Right after that, a kind team gave us their computer (Just like an angel on time!) and since then, we have became friends.
