High-Level Project Summary
We developed a task of a gamified site, which contains puzzles for the user in the next phase with the intention of raising the level of awareness on the subject of open source. Whoever this journey will have access to NASA's own open source. Being encouraged to only consume the information that is there, but also review and not yet their contributions on top of research and already carried out. This structure makes it possible to democratize knowledge and accelerate the pace of scientific production and discoveries.
Detailed Project Description
The project aims to disseminate relevant knowledge about open source in an objective and creative way through animations that encourage people to know about NASA's Open Source Scientific initiative and that, in the end, lead to a game deepening that knowledge.
The game will be on a website that would be a 5-step puzzle where in the end the person would have access to NASA's own open source
- Site structure: Goes through 5 Challenges
First challenge:
When opening the site, a WELCOME message will appear explaining about the site and with the 1st Challenge that will consist of completing the text that will give information about the open source " question" : what are the pillars of open source?
answer: SHARE AND CONTRIBUTE
Second challenge:
When moving on to the next challenge the only image that will appear on the screen will be a picture of a Python snake and by clicking on it the player will be directed to a website that will explain what Python is (preferred open source programming language)
challenge answer: Python
Third challenge:
The next challenge will consist of a kind of what's what?. The site layout will have some loose information about Transform to Open Science and the numbers 2022-2027 and the player will have to guess the answer information: reduce barriers to entry for historically excluded communities; better understanding of how people use NASA data and code to take advantage of their big data collections: increase opportunities for collaboration while promoting scientific innovation, transparency and reproducibility
- answer: TOPS
Fourth challenge:
When advancing, the penultimate challenge will present some images from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) with a centralized information and the player will have to search and guess what it is about
- info: mission in development for 20 years, but only in the last 5 years has open source been introduced? JWST
- answer: James Webb Space Telescope
Fifth challenge:
The last challenge will consist of a general conclusion on the theme with a layout with just one question and some scrambled letters that will form the word open source
- question: The information collected is about...
- answer: open source
Upon completion of all challenges a congratulations message and a link will appear that will lead to the open source part on the NASA website
- Animation history:
1° We begin in the universe;
2° Then a satellite will appear;
3° He will throw a light and will start to give a zoom on the earth;
4° After zooming in, let's stop at a the only person who will have a telescope analyzing the stars;
5° This excited person will look for information to become a scientist;
6° After a long time looking for her find a golden link and click; The moment she clicks she is pulled to screen;
7° She enters a colored space and some options will appear;
8° On the right side will appear planets with option to click and become an astronaut;
9° another option is to appear a big screen of computer that when clicking it will come a data scientist;
10° In front of her would be the NASA team complete calling within a station space and when entering the capsule it automatically becomes a scientist

Hackathon Journey
An interesting experience, we saw that it is possible to develop a project in a short period of time, the challenge was chosen by theme affinity with the team's expertise profile. The team developed with great harmony and division of tasks.
We learned that bringing together people with complementary skills accelerates project development.
The approach was a problematization through a Brainstorm that we did accompanied by a field research to delve into the subject and planning a viable solution, then we developed a prototype to be applied on a large scale throughout NASA, the only setback was that a member could not participate.
We would like to thank the entire team, Unijorge, the organizing team and NASA
