Our challenge is “Turning STEM into STEAM” and we decided to make an interactive image of a painting and a video game. Our idea is to make a video game based on the story of a painting we already have, so we’ll also create an interactive image in genially of the painting’s story and the link to the game. The game we’re developing will be in the first person’s point of view, the player will have to answer a series of multiple option questions, if they answer every question correctly they will be automatically sent to a slide that will congratulate them for completing the mission. If they answer any question wrong, they’ll be sent to a slide that will let them try again.
Our solution is to give access to children from all around the world information about space in a creative and simple way. Our project is all based around a story about 2 astronauts that have to save the world because some asteroids are crashing into the earth. The first thing we did was a painting that illustrates the 2 main characters from the story Sarah and Harry.
From there we made a trivia game in genially that it’s also inspired by the story, mainly what it does is you have to answer 10 questions about space, if you get one wrong you have the opportunity to go back as many times you like and do it again but also your spaceship explodes, but if you get them all right the first time you will save the world.

Finally we had to think of an idea on how to tu both products together, so we made an interactive picture of the painting where it shows the story and it takes to the game.
Our solution seeks facilitating the access to information about space to everyone.
-It teaches children different facts about space
- It spreads information in a more creative way
- Demonstrates that information about space can be shared in different ways.
The tools we used were: Canva, Genially and Google Docs. We used Google Docs to write our story and the questions in our game, we created the game using genially and to make the painting interactive, and finally we used canva to make out the Demo and design our logos.
We chose this challenge because we all found it very interesting, we all like art , and thought it would be interesting, maybe challenging, to create something that blends art, technology and science together. Our experience was great, we learned a lot of thing from how to create games, to communication, etc. We obviously had some bumps in the road but we would breath, maybe take a break and keep going. Finally I would like to thank our teachers and mentors that helped us.
We used resources and tools from Canva, Genially and Google Docs.

A goal of open science is to make scientific information available to all, and original and innovative approaches can be helpful to effectively communicate scientific information to people with different cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds. Your challenge is to develop a creative method that uses the arts to share and explain the design, process, and/or scientific results from a NASA or partner space agency research project to your audience—i.e., develop an approach that combines science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math (STEAM).
