Delta Deck

High-Level Project Summary

Introducing Delta Deck! We showcase the datasets, statistics and information with clean and mordern UI. Therefore, users of all ages could explore and know more about Nasa's airborne data. Simple and Attractive.

Detailed Project Description

Delta Deck is created with the help of Flutter. To develop with Flutter, we use a programming language called Dart. Nasa's Airborne Data is unsurprisingly essential for future developments and benefits to the community.

CLEAN AND MODERN UI

What users want is pretty uncomplicated. What users of this modern era want is something which is easy to use, pleasant to look at and most importantly , it has to be informative.

MAIN PAGE

Information is presented on the main page. For example , "Why Delta?" and "What is happening to Mississipi Delta?". Users could browse through specific videos provided by Nasa's airborne campaigns. Need more information? There will always be an icon "MORE" ready to showcase to users more about that specific topic you have chosen.

SMALL QUIZZES

Certainly, users that include youngsters love challenges. We have prepared quizzes which we call it "Quizzes of the day". Meaning that there will be different quizzes provided every day. Based on our research, gamification is good way to interact with the users as Games can enhance users’ motivation and provide the freedom for users to try and explore. Five benefits of gamification in education 2.1 Higher levels of engagement One of the largest benefits of gamification is its ability to engage users more effectively . Gamified e-learning modules promote engagement by creating challenges.

LIVE DATA

However, little to no users would spend the time to read the statistics , datasets and information one by one. It's plainly because they are too complicated and unattractive. Therefore , we simplified it and coverted them in simple line charts with Flutter. What users want to see is something simple and easy to use. Precaustion steps are provided for specific data such as water salinity and water turbidity. it will let the users know that "a sudden increase in turbidity in a previously clear body of water is a cause for concern. Excessive suspended sediment can impair water quality for aquatic and human life, impede navigation and increase flooding risks."

THE MISSION

Users can get accessed to other airborne data here. Besides, they will get to know more about the team and what they are doing to make the world better!

Our goal is that the public would know more about Nasa's airborne data with little effort by just clicking buttons

Space Agency Data

IN OUR PROJECT

We used Delta-X (nasa.gov) to introduce the public to Delta-X. It contains wonderful and fruitful information and questions which we don't usually ask ourselves.

Data Usage

We were wondering what we can do to make statistics for attrative and fun. Well, we have decided to convert the statistics into graphs. Definitely, we will try to do more research on how to actively display statistics and datasets in a way users would feel wowed. Thus, that will be our first step to display data. Here are some links to the data and website we used to create Delta Deck.

Hackathon Journey

What a journey! We were quite stressed to be honest. There times when we were relieved , panicking , disappointed and happy. Before all that, we would like to thank our teacher, Mr Alan who guided us throughout this hackathon. Without him, we definitely can't make it this far.

We're actually quite interested in designing and coding. That's why we chose this challenge to test our designing and coding, not mention editting skills too.

We had conflicts along the way. Why? We dont have the same opinion sometimes. Since the four of us are close friends or you may call us "brothers", we talked and discussed together until we have chosen what we feel is good. Ricky, the team leader, is the programmer in our team. He was super stressed about not getting the app done in time. We confonted him and give him some brotherily and inspirational hugs and pep talks. In the end, here we are with our own mobile application which is ready to presented to the judges.

When we were recording our video parts, there were tons of errors. It may be grammar-wise , vocabulary-wise or even emotion-wise. We had to keep going until we had the perfect shot and we did. At 2am in the morning, that is. The 30 second video was the most challenging of them all. Putting everything in 30 seconds was hard because you have to make sure that it's going to be interesting and attractive. We mananged to have our own light bulb moment!

48 hours was EXTERMELY CHALLENGING but westayed strong even if it meant staying up until morning.
