How does the game work?

The player leads our main character ‘Eagle’ and his aim is to rescue the lost pieces of James Webb Space Telescope and to rebuilt it. While making his mission completed, he is going to fight to space pirates, escape from cameras, do some parkour, solve some puzzles and more. And he isn’t alone, he have an AI (Artificial Intelligence) near him which helping him giving information about the telescope and its pieces, even making him crazy sometimes.

Levels

There are 5 levels that each one has different difficulties, different enemies init. Some of them take place in space pirates’ spaceship, in their planet and in space. There are a lot of fun in the game with parkour type, arcade type, puzzle type levels.

Mini games

The game has mini games almost in each level’s ends. Even some levels are just made of puzzle. This means that the player is going to have so much fun while playing the game.

Design

We have used a simple design because of some reasons. We’ve wanted sweet, simple, compatible and easy designable format. And we’ve had to complete the design in limited time. So we couldn’t pay enough attention on design and mechanic side.

Storyline

James Webb Space Telescope is stolen by some ‘space pirates’. Pirates divide the telescope into pieces and hide them different places. The main character ‘Eagle’s mission is to find pieces and to rebuilt the telescope. But he is a little combative and sincere, he doesn’t keep his word. Through the game, an AI giving information about the telescope and his mission. There is a different conversation between Eagle and the AI. Eagle makes fun of everything and the AI normally understanding him seriously.

Benefits

We made a game giving information about James Webb Space Telescope. But we wanted to make it not a dull game. So we add a funny main character and some argue with his AI friend. This made the game interesting. In the end, a funny and information fully game is created. So players can have information while playing and enjoying.

Achievement hope

We hope to transfer to the player what we want to. We made it in a sincere way. And we hope the game to attract attention.

Coding, graphics, music

We coded all the game and designed almost all assets by ourselves. We use c# with Unity to code the game and we designed assets using Adobe Illustrator on PC and Infinite Painter on mobile. We used free music archive of YouTube Studio.

About the team

Our team ‘Aquila’ is a new born team. We have 6 members all from high school.

We used some data about James Webb Space Telescope and it's missions from NASA's website. Links are available in references part.

This was our first hackathon experience as a group also as members. And we worked as group for making a game in limited time for first. It was very challenging and it was better than we hope for a first time experience. This event has given us a lot. Especially for working as groups. We’ve learned a lot about group work, work sharing and coping with problems. Specific in the field that we worked, we learned so many information that we haven’t ever known about James Webb Space Telescope, also making learning funnier and easier. In summery it was definitely a good challenge, a good experience for us.
