We developed the software for students. It includes quizzes about various topics. We had the challenge to help people learn more about the James Webb Space Telescope. With our game, students can enjoy their free time, play with a team or without one, and get information about the James Webb Space Telescope's amazing capabilities. The software can also be used as one of the tools for teachers to teach students amazing topics with their phones. We believe that this type of teaching is for the future.
Our game gives schools and people opportunities to play together, learn more about amazing topics, get ranked, and don't waste time on phones. Actually, in our game, people can do quizzes about different scientific topics, learn about them, and take part in competitions. Quizzes will be made by us, school teachers, members with the best rankings, etc. We plan to combine some schools and have a championship throughout our country. We hope to introduce a new way of learning which won't be based only on school stuff. For the demo version, we used App Inventor, but we are going to use Unity Hub and JavaScript to develop our game. The benefits of our project are that it will be very challenging and interesting, and it will be a new way to communicate with your friends and meet new people. It will give everyone the opportunity to not waste time on the phone. On the bus/subway, most people use their phones to play, e.g. car games, as they don't have another thing to do. People can use this time to learn new and fascinating facts about science, space, and staff.
For the demo version, we developed a game with a quiz about telescopes. Mostly, we used the site of NASA and the European Space Agency. We read articles about the James Webb telescope and the Spitzer mission overview. We also gathered information about Voyager 1, interesting facts, and photos from the NASA site. The sites were very important because they were reliable and useful. The photos and articles were amazing and they gave us some ideas about the design of our software.
Our hackathon journey was very interesting. Unfortunately, it coincided with school, but our team still managed to attend most of it. The lecturers were talking about different problems and topics. The lectures were from different occupations, which allowed us to fulfill our desires (as we all have different tastes) and listen to problems from all fields. For example, we learned that it is very challenging to get food without bacteria in the space and that it requires another room to clean the food before eating it. Our team was inspired to choose this topic, as we are very interested in space. Our team resolved setbacks and challenges with the help of mentors and a coordinator. We would like to thank Ilia University as they gave us the opportunity to take part in this Hackathon challenge.
