Space Needs Your Help!

High-Level Project Summary

As ConstellaTED, our aim was to design a game where not only adults who are interested in space, but also children can have fun and learn. In our project, we provided both entertaining and fast access to accurate and reliable information about the James Webb Space Telescope. In this direction, we designed a scenario that we thought would attract people's attention and integrated it into the application we designed. Most characters inside the app are designed by us. The game is basically about aliens abducting the James Webb Space Telescope and trying to save it by answering the user's questions about the James Webb Space Telescope correctly.

Detailed Project Description

In the game we have designed, we compiled the information we have learned about the telescope into a story.In our story, aliens stole the James Webb Space Telescope. Users have to help the astronaut by answering the questions about James Webb correctly to save the telescope. If users can answer at least three of the questions correctly, they can save the James Webb Space Telescope from the aliens. The application we create includes 3 main topic. These are the START, INFORMATION and CREDITS parts. When the user touch the START button his mission to save James Webb Space Telescope(JWST) will be started. And has to answer the questions according to the INFORMATION part. Here is the main aim is not making everybody learn JWST. It is to make curious children to create themselves a funny game and learn at the same time. Because of unfamiliar things and just informations, children will get bored easily from a normal app yet in our Space Needs Your Help! app it is funny, easy and comfortable. You can learn, have fun and be aware of what is happening in space.

Space Agency Data

We inspired from the NASA 3D resources library(https://nasa3d.arc.nasa.gov/) for James Webb Space Telescope, asteroids and the photo gallery for our questions and answers. Also we take the information from NASA (https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/webb/main/index.html). We aim it to make our project relevant to real-world scientists and curious little astronauts.

Hackathon Journey

It was the most beautiful and fun two days of our lives. Sometimes we felt like we are astronauts. Sometimes we felt like we are computer engineer. And that was amazing. We were sleep deprived (but it was worth it), we danced a lot and tinkered with our project. We researched, we coded what we researched, we tested what we coded, we approved what we tested, we presented what we approved to you.
