JWST Jigsaw Puzzles

High-Level Project Summary

This is a simple project, made using simple materials and code. It is a jigsaw puzzle game, made with learning in mind. Before and after each puzzle, there are information blocks, which the user chooses to read or not. The puzzles are stale and boring(although beautiful) so when you play the game, your brain thinks the information blocks given to you are more interesting. The main gameplay is solving the puzzle, but the game's true purpose is to feed you the provided information. My project solves the challenge of making people learn in a fun manner, and I think it is really important because information is typically presented in a dull and boring fashion.

Detailed Project Description

Most of the project description has already been written in the High-Level Project Summary(my bad). This project makes learning fast and fun, through boring jigsaw puzzles! Don't believe it? See for yourself! Its main benefits are its effective and fast learning procedure. The main intention behind the project is to make learning seem fun, by comparing it with boring puzzles. Before you start every level you are given a piece of information, and as a prize for completing the said level, you receive a piece of related information. The puzzles in-between are basically just secured images, placed to make the raw text in from of you more appealing. I hope to give out people an easier and more fun alternative to student books and such. The educational system is way too old and if I can't replace it, at least I can build upon it. To make this project work, I've used Unity2D, C#, Visual Studio a mouse, and a keyboard (and it shows) :).

Space Agency Data

I have used images and information from NASA, ESA, CSA, and STScI. The images I've used to give out as puzzle pictures and the information is given out raw to the player. I thought the images captured by the JWST were extremely beautiful, so making them the puzzle's images was a no-brainer.

Hackathon Journey

This is my first Nasa Space Apps Hackaton so far. I have learned many new skills during my journey, like creating jigsaw puzzles for instance :). I have learned about the Nasa.gov website(believe it or now) and I am in love! I have not thought about choosing any other challenge for a second, since I have been developing video games on junior level for quite some time now and I thought this challenge will help me grow. Although I have not had all my time on this project, I have given it my heart and soul and I would like to thank my partner Desislava Marinova for providing me with this brilliant idea.
