The J.W.S.T Learning Web App

High-Level Project Summary

The objective of our project was to develop a game that a user can play to learn the functionalities, capabilities, and performance of NASA's James Web Space Telescope. We did not create a simple game here, but we tried to give the user a storyline so that the user can interactively play by going through different levels of the web app. Each group of these games is for learning places, and the user would learn other things about James Web Space Telescope. This project will help the users to know more about the components used in the James Web Space Telescope and their uses. It will also help them learn what J.S.W.T is capable of and its functionalities in a fun and interactive way.

Detailed Project Description

The project was built by using 3 different High-Level Programming Languages.

HTML:

HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the code that is used to structure a web page and its content to structure a web page and its content.

How we used:

We have used HTML in order to give our web games an overall structure/blueprint

CSS:

CSS is the language for describing the presentation of Web Pages, including colors, layout and describing the presentation of web pages, including colors, layout, and font. In our project.

How we used:

We have CSS for styling the games, buttons and etc in style we include the overall theme, color, font size, font family and etc.

Javascript:

Javascript is used by programmers across the world to create dynamic and interactive web content like applications and browsers.

How we used:

We have used Javascript to give functionalities in games and redirect to different games through pressing buttons

Visual Studio Code:

Visual Studio Code, also commonly referred to as VS Code, is a source-code editor made by Microsoft. We have used this as a code editor as its light and fast

Additional Information About Project:

The Project contains one starting page and has three different levels and each level has a different educational game through which a user can learn different topics of James Web Space Telescope.

At the start of the page, we have built a Solar System that a user can interact with and play around with overall then there is a button that when users click on it they will travel to planet EARTH and can play a card of different components of James Web Space Telescope. After completing this level they will proceed to planet MARS where the user will play a quiz game to know some facts about James Web Space Telescope. After completing this level they will proceed to the next and final level which is on the planet Jupiter where they will play a jumble words game through this game they will learn differently and get to know about them.

And the BEST PART after completing all these levels there will be a video that shows how the James Web Space Telescope acts in space.

Space Agency Data

We use some information and images of J.W.S.T from the official website of James Web Space Telescope.

Hackathon Journey

The overall journey was amazing and we get to know a lot of things regarding teamwork, and competitions.

As it was a first-time experience for us. We really experienced the competitiveness of competition and how to work under pressure and meet deadlines

We chose this project after seeing the very first image taken by JWST. We were just amazed and fantasizing so we thought why not build something through which more people learn about this telescope.

Our approach is to build something that is fun, and interactive and users can learn about James Web Space Telescope.
