High-Level Project Summary
Platanario is an arcade game inspired by the aligment mechanics of the JWST, in this game you control the pet of C-Zar who has fallen sleep while controlling the telescope after a long day of work, you must avoid obstacles and enemies to obtain perfect image transmisions. As you progress the image gets clearer and if you finish the sequence without taking too many hits, you will be rewarded with one of the JWST images.Download it to play it here: https://andrew2115.itch.io/platenario

Detailed Project Description
Platanario is a PC Game developed in Unity with C#.
The gameplay mechanics consist on avoiding obstacles and dashing while you are recovering the image quality of the JWST transmissions.
We believe that it could help to understand how we obtain images through the JWST presenting it in a fun way and focusing on the process of calibrating and aligning. This also is a reference that in the past, the images obtained were very blurry.
Our game contains also references to the history of space exploration and arcade videogames.
Space Agency Data
We were inspired by the info provided by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) on how the telescope aligment works.

We chose some images from the Multimedia Web Gallery of NASA.
Hackathon Journey
We are a passionated group of game developers who are used to participate in game jams from time to time, for us, to participate in a global challenge from NASA was a great opportunity and we were very happy that there was a category fit for game developers to work on.
We learned a lot about the JWST and created a history that could inspire people to know more about this topic.
We would like to thank Alejandro Coronado because he inspired us to participate in this challenge.
No bananas were harmed during the development of this project.
References
All the art assets in the game were created by us, with the exception of the backgrounds wich were the different images provided by the JWST and NASA through their respective websites.
