We have worked on "Learning Through looking glass". Dimorphase is a game based application build using Flutter to help people learn about James Webb Telescope. We have used 3d glb Models in our game where initial part is based on demonstrating launch process of webb. Moving to the next level of the game, we have used one of the most important capability of webb, to predict presence of life on other planets. It uses the fact that infrared emission from extroplanets contains different contents in it's energy so webb can predict presence of life by checking methane and oxygen in the energy content. We have build an interactive game which a user can play to learn about functionalities of jwst.
We have used Flutter to develop a gaming application for most of the front-end part. Dimorphase is an interactive gaming platform and for doing so we have focused more on making User Interface as interactive as it can be. Starting with the launching event where we have used 3d models from NASA to demonstrate How JWST was launched using ARIANE 5 Rocket and then further we have used 3d models to depict different part JWST possesses just to give a brief model description as when a user slides it to a certain part a box appears containing detail of the telescope.
We have used Figma for creating most of the User Interface which we have done right from the scratch and we have also used Adobe After-Effects and Adobe illustrator for designing graphics of landing page.
The final and most important level will make a user understand about one of the most important part which is how JWST can contribute in predicting presence of life on an extro-planet which is far far away from us. It will be a game where user will place telescope towards a planet and when light in form of infrared rays will emit from planet on telescope, it will find out if biosignatures of methane and oxygen are present in the Energy content which will finally add up in predicting if life is present on that certain planet. User will have to use this concept to click on yes or no and then a window will pop showing if user's response was right or not.
The benefit of this model is simply that it will help a user to build an understanding of one of the most important capability of JWST i.e. finding presence of life on an extro-planet.
We are hoping to achieving one important goal which is how to make people aware about one of the most ground-breaking technology of 21st century in space technology, a technology which will help in solving intricacies of the universe by going back in time and at the same time helping to save our planet by observing impacts of DART mission which was a planetary defense mission where NASA collided spacecraft to an asteroid named Dimorphous in order to understand how we can defend our planet in future.
We have used NASA's dataset related to James Webb Telescope to build core concepts of the app and then we have used 3d Models of telescope to build different parts of the game, right from beginning portal where telescope's different views are depicted in 3d form to make user understand about how telescope is designed.
In order to demonstrate launch of JWST through Ariane 5, we have used data about it from NASA.
Further going through the app we have used NASA's dataset from Exploration of EXPOPLANETS to show planets and their emission of light which we have used in our game.
We had an amazing Space Apps experience. We worked on a project which needed a great set of team work and we divided work accordingly. It was a project which needed a lot of research about the james webb telescope and doing that gave us a great insight on the same.
The thing which inspired us the most to do this project was the recent DART mission and how Webb helped in observing the impact of this mission, when we came to know about this event it motivated us to learn more about it and then build a project on the same. While doing that there were times when we faced setbacks like this one time, we were stuck while working on the development of Game and the 3d model wouldn't render, we were clueless for a while but then we used image for it and build the game and it worked the way we expected it to.
We want to thank our senior from our college Mahima Kaushik who somehow couldn't be a part of the team as she went for an interview but she helped us in formation of the model.
