High-Level Project Summary

We team XSeeD have developed a game which comes under the challenge named "LEARNING THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS". Basically it is a collection of 4 games - Scramble Game, Memory Card Game, Hangman Game and Jigsaw Puzzle.Hence the challenge is chosen to help people learn about the capabilities & performance of NASA's JWST. As nowadays, people don't have enough time to read and learn about the things on internet,although it's a tedious task. Hence playing games is a favourite past time activity for almost every age group. So, people can learn and get useful information about NASA's JWST through these games . Hence, a creative and exciting solution is needed to impart information about JWST.

Detailed Project Description

Since the project is based on "LEARNING THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS" and it is a collection of four games , the primary goal of this game is to give people knowledge about NASA's JWST i.e. James Webb Space Telescope. Basically, JWST is a telescope designeed primarily to conduct infrared astronomy.

The technology that we have used is HTML, CSS and JAVASCRIPT. There are four games in it - SCRAMBLE GAME , MEMORY CARD GAME, HANGMAN GAME & JIGSAW PUZZLE.

So at first, a page is opened having 4 options SCRAMBLE GAME , MEMORY CARD GAME, HANGMAN GAME & JIGSAW PUZZLE from which we have to select one.


In the first game of SCRAMBLE WORD GAME ,the player has to guess a word from randomly arrange letters by recognizing the hint. A timer is also given and then the player has to check the word. If the word is right , player will get congrats message , if it is wrong , the player will get notification accordingly.


In the second game of MEMORY CARD GAME, player has to match the images of galaxies captured by NASA's JWST by turning the card. It has 4 rows and 4 columns and a pair of 8 images. It will help people to increase their memory retention capacity.


In the third game of HANGMAN GAME, basically the set of 26 alphabets is given and by looking at the hint , we have to select the letters accordingly. Also, it has a only 5 moves that means only 5 attempts can be made to guess the correct word.


The last game is JIGSAW PUZZLE GAME. In this the player has to solve the puzzle by moving the tiles to make the complete image of JAMES WEBB SPACE TELESCOPE. It will count the number of turns , player will move the tile.


Hence by playing these games people can increase their memorizing power, can thing efficiently and also get acquainted with the valuable information about NASA's JAMES WEBB SPACE TELESCOPE.

Space Agency Data

The first game of SCRAMBLE WORD, the various facts and valuable information which is used as hints is taken from NASA/IPAC Science Archive.

In second game of MEMORY CARD GAME, the various images of galaxies are taken from the WISE IMAGE GALLERY.

In the third game the facts related to JAMES WEBB SPACE TELESCOPE are taken from the official site of NASA .

In the fourth game of JIGSAW PUZZLE, the image of JAMES WEBB SPACE TELESCOPE is taken from IMAGE GALLERIES WEBB/NASA. and hence we have cropped the image into 9 equal parts.

Hackathon Journey

The 39 (approx.) hours long NASA SPACE APPS CHALLENGE 2K22 has been the stupendous hackathon we have participated in. Hackathons always helps us to learn new things in a short span of time. But this hackathon not only helps us to create a game, which can let people to explore about James Webb Space Telescope but it also taught us and know the things which was earlier unfamilier to us.

This hackathon has let us to come out of our forte and pushes our inner capabilities to complete the project.

Since our team has only 2 members so we have also taken guidance from our seniors that helped us in making new connections.

We have chosen this challenge because we wanted to create something which is easy to implement and can be accessible to anyone . Since playing games is everyone's favourite past time so through this people can take breaks from their busy schedule and play and learn, explore about the telescope.

We wanted to thank NASA for giving this opportunity to showcase our skills.
