ISS LIVE 3D

High-Level Project Summary

ISS Live 3D is an open-source web app that ensures better navigation in tracking the International space station in Space. Bringing the ISS to everyone like never before! we are solving the problem of monitoring ISS in 3D. we are implementing Augmented Reality View and voice assistant navigation for which tracking will be more efficient and handy. With the help of Nasa’s 3d ISS model and weather API, we will show the safest road to reach ISS. With our web app, tracking ISS will be more interactive and all information related to ISS will be available for everyone. As our web app will be featurefull and interactive it will have importance in world and space.

Detailed Project Description

Our main motivation behind this project is to make the web app so that astronauts can track the ISS correctly and also to make this web app as an open source to the world so that anyone acquire advanced knowledge of space, ISS etc AND by using the sources interested people can enrich this sector by contributing in it. “ISS LIVE 3D” where we can track the ISS in 3D. To track the ISS we have used NASA’s ISS tracker API.

Our web app will also provide real time Augmented reality view using mobile from our website to see shortest and appropriate paths in augmented view which will also be implemented in space.

This feature will give strong visualization of the ISS to the scientists and whoever needs.

Our web app will provide voice recognition for easy access to all the features and also help the astronauts to navigate via voice assistance.

The weather feature of our app will detect disturbances in space like Geomagnetic Storm (GST), Solar Flare (FLR), Radiation Belt Enhancement (RBE) etc. which will differentiate our web app from others.

Also there will be historic visualizations showing how the space station looked at different periods in its lifetime—from launch of its first module to the last module launched in 2021


Tracking will be very easy as our webpage will show the current position of astronaut and current position of ISS and also show that the weather is okay or not.

 

We will use google’s AR model viewer for AR view in our web, weather api of NASA for weather detection, google’s text to speech api for voice recognition, three js for 3D modeling. TLE set to track the orbital. Also we had to use Html, Css, Javascript to build the web app.

Hackathon Journey

The space Apps hackathon experience was outstanding in one word. We believe that team work is dream work and from participating in this massive event we got to work as a team, learnt to coordinate as team members. Also we got to know new and unknown things about space, NASA, ISS etc. Besides from participating in this hackathon we had the pleasure to use NASA's important data, API and so on. Our motivation is to track the ISS with cutting edge technologies and also to have future improvements after our works. Firstly we had our motivation, then we found out the lacking, then we found the solution after that we explored features and collected resources and lastly we started the process of development. Our team coordination made this project possible, we had to go through many resources and data from NASA to resolve the challenges.
