STARCOURSE

High-Level Project Summary

We developed an education platform that helps people learn about the stars in an interactive way. The platform offers a wide range of articles that includes information about stars and space. All articles are written in an easy and readable language that lets the younger audience to fully understand the material. Additionally, The platform offers quizzes and lets you check your knowledge about the stars using Kahoot platform. The platform solves the challenge because it makes the the learning process more fun and easy. The Project is significant because it takes the complicated texts from Nasa Articles and coverts it to a more readable text.

Detailed Project Description

Our website represents the adaptive platform that makes learning Science much more accessible:

  • We have simplified the difficult material into a more accessible language
  • Additionally, we have created interactive quizzes to make the material memorable and just add a little more fun.

By creating this platform we hope to make information about Stars and Space more accessible to simple people who don't have basic knowledge about Stars and Space because it may seem that astronomy is a very complicated science. However, our platform is designed to make it easy for absolutely everyone who wants to start their journey towards the discovery of the vast capacity of the universe and the stars.

We have decided to use wix.com as a main resource and platform to develop a website our website currently uses a Wix blog and Wix constructor to run the website. Additionally, we have added some custom code to implement a couple of features like Kahoot quizzes on the website.

Most of the data on our website is taken from the NASA Space Apps Resource Center.

Hackathon Journey

We have participated in multiple hackathons throughout our life. However, The Nasa Space Apps hackathon has always been one biggest one. It has always had a special atmosphere and its own style. We have learned a lot of new things about Space and Stars about software that enabled us to develop such a modern platform in 48 hours.

In this Hackathon we have learned:

  • How to manage time
  • Assign every team member tasks based on their skill set.
  • How to keep calm and build a product in very stressful conditions that were created due to time limitations and lack of peace and working space.

Our Approach for developing the project was to move fast and break things. That was the approach of the founder of Meta

Moving fast was a key factor because the time was limited and we needed to complete the project no matter what so sometimes we had to break things.
