The Base

High-Level Project Summary

The Base is a website where every curious mind can find himself. Based on self-learning methods everyone who wants to learn something new can visit our webpage and have his own learning sessions. All the lessons will be written as simplified as it can be so even in difficult topics young people can still grasp the idea of the occurrence. To make this learning sessions more fun we have created a game that for every new level the player passes he will be rewarded with a short fun fact about stars. And for those who can't have access to a desktop at the moment they want to visit us, to make it simpler for them we have created a prototype of how our app would look like.

Detailed Project Description

As mentioned above our website is a self-learning space where every question you have about the stars we will provide it to you. With the idea that every new update from Nasa we will turn it into a new Lesson for you meaning that we aim to keep you updated with the latest occurrence in the galaxy. All the lessons are accompanied with videos or images containing graphs or anything else related to the topic it will be about.

Whoever wants to test their new knowledge we offer you the opportunity to test yourselves with our quizzes which you can take anytime you want.

Learning can turn into fun with us with our game where for each new level you earn new facts. The main goal of our game is to catch stars and in new levels you will face new obstacles such as asteroids which when you bump into them they will splint into two other smaller ones while also making your ship slower. To play our game make sure to check to click the information button so to know how to play it.

We also created a prototype of an app since apps are much easier accessible nowadays. This is for our users to visit us even in times where their PC isn't close to them. Our app also has a feature you cannot find on our website in which you can ask us about anything you want to know so we can provide it to you. Our motto is Thinking space and our goal is to not leave questioned unanswered and that's why this feature was a must so we can stay connected with our users.

We wish to create an environment when questions don't remain unanswered and you actually enjoy your time while opening your horizon. A platform where star lovers find more and more things to make them love stars even more.

For the website we have used programming languages such as html, css and javascript. As for the game we have used GDevelop while for the app we have used Glide.

Space Agency Data

We have used most of the resources provided to us by Nasa but also some other space websites. Watching all the pictures from the galaxy inspired us for our background and other photos we used at our project using pictures of stars everywhere to make our user think it has entered the actuall galaxy.

Hackathon Journey

For most of our group it was our first time taking part in a hackathon and we were a bit sceptical at the beginning like every first time adventure but it turned out as a great experience for all of us. Getting to know new people and also exchanging ideas and knowledge with each other made us finish this journey with new things we will definitely need in our upcoming careers.

We were really happy with our team because each one of us brought something different and gave it's own special touch in our final project. A mix of different characters with different interest turned out as the secret recipe for the perfect group.

References

We have used most of the resources provided to us by Nasa by also adding them to a dedicated part of our page for everyone who wants to know more.
