Back in person at Hackerspace.gr!
This year we are scheduling an in-person meeting while allowing for team members to participate remotely if need be. As in the previous iterations of NASA Space Apps Challenge Athens, we will be working together at the local hackerspace.gr. Hackerspace.gr is a physical dedicated to open technologies and operating for more than 11 years in Athens, Greece. Situated close to the Agios Eleftherios, station at the Green Line of the metro system, it is accessible to everyone working on open-source technologies. The space is fully equipped for the development of software and hardware projects, featuring:
- Desk and conference area, with whiteboards, projectors, and large monitors, wireless and wired internet connectivity, for collaborative work
- Mechanical prototyping equipment like lathes, mills, 3D printers, laser cutter
- PCB prototyping and pick & place for electronics prototyping
- Embedded prototyping boards like Arduino's and Raspberry Pi
- Electronics labs equipment like oscilloscopes, signal generators, programmable bench supplies, etc for electronics testing.
- Clean-box facility for handling of space-rated hardware.
Libre Space Foundation
Libre Space Foundation uses its facilities daily to prototype space-rated hardware, and has prototype and build several space-rated hardware projects including, UPSat, QUBIK and PICOBUS. Libre Space Foundation can trace its roots back to the 2014 iteration of Space Apps Challenge Athens. During this event, people started working on SatNOGS, the satellite ground-station network. Nowadays SatNOGS is the largest ground-station network in the world, featuring more than 400 ground-station with participation from individuals, universities, research organizations, and corporations in more than 60 countries.
