3… 2… 1… WE HAVE IGNITION - THE NASA SPACE APPS CHALLENGE WILL HAVE THE SECOND LIFT OFF FROM LEBANON FOR YEAR 2022!

You can now join the largest space & science hackathon in the solar system that NASA organizes as the International Space Apps Challenge. It is the first time that Lebanon hosts Space Apps, so let us show the world our scientific talents.

In the previous hackathon, we have managed to filter 204 participants from thousands that applied to Space Apps Lebanon. We had more than 40 Expert Volunteers, with an exceptional event managed in a Hybrid model that was approved by NASA. We made sure that from our first year participation ever to show the world what we are capable of. We made sure that 24 teams join the finals and make Lebanon proud. Space Apps helped the Lebanese Community to make Lebanon be on the International Space Map again.

The Educational Center for Research and Development in Lebanon was a main partner with others like the Holy Spirit University; That provided logistics, support and operational upkeep. We thank all partners that helped us in every detail that made Lebanon reach Space.

Year 2022, NASA Space Apps Lebanon will be one of the biggest exceptional events in Lebanon and the world. Do not forget to register!

WHAT IS SPACE APPS?

The NASA International Space Apps Challenge (Space Apps) is an international hackathon for coders, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders, technologists, and others in cities around the world, where teams engage the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA’s) free and open data to address real-world problems on Earth and in space.

For one weekend each October, participants from around the world come together over a 48-hour period to solve challenges submitted by NASA personnel. After the hackathon, project submissions are judged by space agency experts and winners are selected for one of 10 Global Awards.

Space Apps introduces problem-solvers worldwide to NASA’s free and open data. By using NASA data to solve each year’s challenges, Space Apps teams learn about NASA’s data, and share in the creation and application of the knowledge that results.

Space Apps also inspires collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. Our mission is to leverage this interest to encourage the growth and diversity of the next generation of scientists, technologists, designers, storytellers, and engineers.

OUR PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AS A REFERNCE (For your review)

We have managed to run our Space Apps in a Hybrid Approach that included two techniques: Virtual and Free Covid-19 On-Campus presence. It was a great success that made Lebanon be ready for the biggest Hackathon in our universe.

We have involved the participants, volunteers, judges, mentors in trainings, zoom sessions, discussions, slack communication, real-time chatting and other activities to make sure all are set and ready to go. Here are some photos of our participants:

Our Lebanese Go Team was present in more than 28 media coverages in one week prior to the hackathon on TV channels, radio stations, online news websites, social media networks and others. The international community covered our news and success that showed the world the power of our brains.

Many important figures were involved from NASA, Conrad Summit, and other such as: Mrs. Nancy Conrad and Mr. Georges Haddad.

We had a Three-Day Hackathon at The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik at the advanced and modern Ashter Center Campus. We have dedicated 27 high tech rooms and full floor for our expert volunteers to operate the whole hackthon.
