Welcome to NASA Space Apps Challenge 2022 in Craiova!

Craiova will take part in the largest global hackathon in the world for the second time this year! Join us on October 01-02 for the 2022 International Space Apps Challenge!

What is NASA Space Apps Challenge?

Space Apps is a 48 hours global hackathon, engaging thousands of problem solvers each year across the globe. The event embraces collaborative problem solving with a goal of producing relevant open-source solutions to address global needs applicable to both life on Earth and life in space.

Saturday, October 01st, we will have our mandatory hacker orientation. Everyone participating in the hackathon will check in, grab dinner, set up all required software accounts, learn about the challenges, hear from our sponsors and mentors about the support available during the weekend, form teams, and get ready for a weekend of hacking.

On the morning, starting at 10:00, everyone will return to the hackathon space for breakfast and our hackathon kickoff, and then get hacking!

Lunch and dinner will also be served.

Organizers and volunteers will be on hand to assist with any questions and help with team placement. Technology and science mentors will also be available in person and virtually to float between teams and answer any questions.

Sunday, October 02nd we have breakfast and wrap up our projects. Project submission is at noon, followed by lunch. Team demos will start shortly after lunch, will be globally livestreamed, and is open for friends and family to attend (we will send out a separate form for adding people to the guest list for demos).

Around 5pm we will conclude the demos, select sponsors will present their specially branded awards, and our judges will announce the hackathon winners!

Participants under the age of 13 require adult supervision for the entirety of the hackathon.

Who can participate in the hackathon?

Coders, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders, technologists, students, engineers, entrepreneurs, artists, and problem solvers of all types, everyone enthusiastic about space, this event is for you!
The event is free and open to the public. Participation is limited to a number of 70 participants so make sure to sign up once registration opens.

Gather a team of people with a diverse background, choose your challenge and register. Over 48 hours you work together to develop an innovative solution to your challenge (be it a website, a mobile app, a concept or a hardware prototype).

Your team will present the solution to an audience and a jury that will be announced soon. The best solutions will then compete on a global level!

In partnership with the Romanian-British School, this year we have a section of the hackathon dedicated to kids. More details soon.
