Calling all coders, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders, technologists, space enthusiasts and problem solvers:

WE WANT YOU!

Come join us for our second ever Space Apps International challenge 2022 in Harare, Zimbabwe! Be a part of an awesome and engaging community working together to address major challenges in space and on Earth.

WHAT IS SPACE APPS?

  • Space Apps is an international hackathon for coders, scientists, designers, researchers, and others who are passionately involved in finding solutions for global problems. Now in it`s 11th year, it is the world's largest international hackathon and is organized by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and partner agencies. Participants will be tasked with making use of existing data from space to solve real world challenges. The best part is you do not need any technical skills or knowledge to solve any of the challenges, all you need is a little confidence to hit that register button and some creativity to get you started.

  • The challenge will run for two consecutive days, officially beginning on the 1st of October. Entries are open to everyone be it programmers, scientists, artists, students or any other memebers of society, you`re all welcome to join in the fun!

This year`s event will be VIRTUAL and streamed on our social media pages. Details will be sent out to all registered participants.

HOW DO I REGISTER?

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

  • Registration will be open through the end of the hackathon. However, we encourage you to create an account and register in advance to ensure that you get plugged into our local community and take full advantage of the resources that will open before the hackathon begins, such as chat and team formation.
  • Before the hackathon begins, detailed guides (on chat, team formation, project submission, and judging and awards) will be posted on the Space Apps resources page and on your user dashboard under "Resources & Hackathon Tips.”

We encourage you to invite your friends along! Typical Space Apps teams have 2-6 participants (the limit is 6 members per team).
