Welcome aboard!
The 2022 Space Apps Challenge is quickly approaching.
NASA’s annual hackathon (NASA Space Apps) is announced, and the Kingdom of Bahrain represented by the National Space Science Agency (NSSA) is onboard once again to host the local event come on October 1-2, 2022 in collaboration with Bahrain polytechnic and Bahrain Society of Engineers.
Space Apps is an international hackathon for coders, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders, technologists, and others in cities around the world, where teams engage with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s free and open data to address real-world problems on Earth and in space.
This year, the Space Apps hackathon local event will be hosted in person at the Bahrain Polytechnic.

There’s always space for one more!
Space Apps is an international hackathon and we are welcoming high school students , university students’, coders, entrepreneurs, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders, artists, and technologists to come together. Over two days, participants from around Bahrain or the region will create in-person or virtual teams to solve challenges using NASA’s open-source data. This year’s event theme is “Make SPACE”, celebrating the motto of “there’s always space for one more." At Space Apps, it is strived to eliminate barriers of access to space and science opportunities.

Space Apps is for anyone and everyone!
This includes those who have never “hacked" before! All passionate problem solvers are encouraged to join - students, coders, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders, technologists, space enthusiasts, problem solvers, experts, engineers, makers and artists.
While some of the challenges are technical, others ask you to use your artistic skills, your business acumen, and your imaginations! In other words, you do not need to be a coder or data expert to be part of Space Apps. In fact, the most diverse teams are often the most successful.
The experience is rich in coaching and mentorship opportunities from academic and industry experts.
Excited to meet you!
We look forward to seeing both returning & new participants during this year’s NASA International Space Apps Challenge. Participation is FREE of charge and you will need to sign up individually or form a team of 2-5 people.
