Rome

Welcome to the Space Apps Rome info page.

The event will be held on October 1st and 2nd, 2022 and for now it will be a hybrid event, our physical location will be in Frascati (RM) inside the Scuderie Aldobrandini , for all the Italian SpaceAppers signed in the Rome hub that want to participate in person (max. 50 confirmed participants).
We welcome virtual participants from Italy, who will be able to follow the hackathon online (zoom call).

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Everyone can take part in the competition, because every skill is useful in order to work on a project. Register to Space Apps if you are a space enthusiast, if you’re an engineer (or you're studying in order to become one), if you have communication or marketing skills (you will have to convince the judges your idea is cool!) or if you're looking for a chance to test yourself.

If you don't have a team already: don't worry! We will help you and make sure you can find someone as passionate as you on the challenge you want your project to respond to.

IMPORTANT INFO:

  1. In order to participate as a contestant for the Rome Local Hub all team members must be resident in Italy.
  2. Remember that a Team that has an underage participant must also have at least one adult over the age of 18 as a member of said Team, whom must be present throughout the whole duration of the hackathon, and be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the minor participant. For each underage participant a release form must be filled out. It can be downloaded here, then delivered in person to the organizers on the first day of the hackathon (mandatory).

Last but not least, snacks, drinks and refreshments will be provided to all the participants at our venue. If you suffer from allergies, or have dietary restrictions be sure to email us at spaceappsrome@gmail.com

HOW TO GET TO FRASCATI

If you are one of our in person participants check this guide to see how you can easily reach our location in Frascati by train, bus or car.

WHY FRASCATI?

This year we chose Frascati to be the host of our venue because the hackathon coincides with one of the biggest science events in Italy: The European Researchers Night (Notte Europea dei Ricercatori). Both the NASA Space Apps Challenge and this prestigious event share in their mission the want and need to explore the scientific world, make it accessible to anyone who has great ideas, and a passion for the science, Space or any other subject matter.
