🎉CONGRATULATIONS!🙌
We had a wondeful time with you all over the weekend, thank you for taking part and for showing us your awesome projects! You all did amazingly well!
🏆 First Place Local Winner : INTO THE VOID
🏆 Runner up: By Jove
Huge congrats to both teams!
After meeting this week and reviewing all the team submissions, our local lead team have put forward 🏆 INTO THE VOID as our global nomination, who continued working on their project right up until midnight! We wish them the best of luck.
📷 We've got some photos up at https://www.flickr.com/photos/196651557@N03/albums/72177720302640350 and will be making a short video which will go up on our Youtube page.
We can't wait to see all of your lovely faces back at the UK Met Office HQ in Exeter. This year we're sponsored by theJoint Centre for Excellence in Environmental Intelligence, South West Centre of Excellence in Satellite Applications and TechExeter CIC.
The weekend will be about meeting new people and solving interesting challenges together. Don't let the 'Apps' part put you off, the best teams are often the most diverse teams in terms of age, skills and experience. We have seen great projects made entirely from cardboard!

What is SpaceApps?
The NASA International Space Apps Challenge is the largest global hackathon on Earth, for scientists, coders, designers, technologists and storytellers, amongst others. Participants from around the world come together over a 48 hour period to solve challenges (around 25 to choose from) submitted by NASA or the Met Office, which can be as diverse as: creating a video about climate change facts (and/or experiences in your area); using open source Earth data applications and augmenting these with other valuable data/analysis/features; simulating a space biology superhero to help understand space travel stresses; moonquake map app development of seismic data transmitted back from the moon. More information about the challenges can be found here: https://2022.spaceappschallenge.org/challenges/
Participants range from multinational companies, government organisations and space agencies, small to medium businesses, through to university students and the wider general public. Last year 28,000 people, spanning 162 countries and territories took part. Global winners get invited by NASA to visit a rocket launch.
The two days at the Met Office hosted event include a buffet lunch and dinner for the Saturday and a buffet breakfast and lunch for the Sunday. Snacks and drinks will also be provided throughout the day.
